Unless Ottawa plans to flip one of them for another trade?

Neither one is gauranteed to be anything at this point so trading one is not the best idea. All this means is Auld is done and the depth in the organization at basically every position is amazing.

I think you can have 3 goalies for as long as you want. Edmonton did it for about a month last year. The only rule I know of is a 23 player limit for the NHL roster, not counting injuries.

Strickland is saying the same thing...

On the roster limit: I believe that goes out the window after the trade deadline passes.

If they both pan out, one will be flipped. In three years.

This move will make Lehner play better IMO. Before, he knew no matter what he did in the AHL, he would be in the NHL soon anyway because there was literally no other options. Now he becomes hungrier, angrier, and will take it out on the opposition.

I have to say I love this move. we don't have to draft a goaltender anymore which would of/ could of been done with that pick or something similar this year but without having to wait for them to grow. Bishop looks like he could be a starter.
very happy with the price being paid on this.

as for lehner this just gives him more time to work on his game in the minors which is fine by me. he's not lights out all the time so let him figure it out.

Biggest mistake was pretty much giving Lehner the backup job next year, he should earn it like anything else.

Now he has to beat out Bishop.

Darren Pang says Lehner is not NHL ready, unlike Bishop.

He said Bishop was more NHL ready than Lehner which is 100% the truth. There isn't a goaltender in the world that isn't in the NHL more ready than Bishop. The guy 9is 25 and just waitin g for his chance, he's going to get it now.

Lehner is NHL ready for a backup role for sure, Bishop might be ready to be a starter,

I believe Robin Lehner has to learn the same things Bishop did. Go to AHL, be the best goalie in league. Have a great attitude. No pouting.

Lehner is way behind Bishop in terms of being NHL ready. Bishop paid his dues, wasn't handed anything. Great communicator and puck handler

The problem is Lehner should have competition for the backup role, he didn't until now.

Still don't know enough about him to comment. Like that he was in GG's top 15 prospects, like his #s into the A.

Totally agree but I still believe Lehner is NHL ready. Paying dues like this is probably a good thing for Lehner for sure. Tough lesson but a good one.

another perfect example of how clueless damien cox is:
Bishop good example of how values get distorted around deadline. He's 25. not 21. He may make NHL, he may not.

So we trade Elliott for Anderson, Elliott takes Bishop's job, then Bishop replaces Anderson? Vertigo
