Lehner would have to go down as he is on emergency recall I believe.

EDIT: Now see he is signed to a 1-year extension. Beauty.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Auld waived & sent down, to be honest...

Not so sure about that... having insurence is a nice thing and a guy like Auld won't cause a stir. He may very well get waived but there is something to be said for a 3rd goaltender being around come playoff time.

He may actually win some games for Bingo. Wink

Wow, with Lehner AND Bishop waiting in the wings, out goaltending situation suddenly looks VERY bright. Hope Bishop gets a game in in the next few days.

2.26 GAA and .928 stats in the AHL this year, 24-14 record. Really solid. Have heard nothing but good things about this guy.

Can they keep 3 goalies for a while?

Not a prospect when he's on a 1 way deal. The deal just makes a ton of sense.

Finally, we have legit goalie depth. It's been a while.

Yup, basically this. Amazing depth too because both Lehner and Bishop might be considered the best goalies on in the NHL at this point. Bishop is now a full time NHL goaltender.

Yeah, who knows. I understand, tho', that's it's really hard to keep 3 goalies on the roster. Pretty hard to run a practice with them all, for instance. And someone will have to go to Bingo before too long, I'd imagine.

I think there's a rule you can only have 3 goalies on your roster for a maximum of 48 hours.

Great price if he can translate his AHL success. Reading up on him, sounds like GG had him ranked as the 15th best G prospect before this great year he's having.

I don't think so. Pitts was carrying 3 for like 2 months a few years back.

Kypreos is tweeting that no extention is in place yet. TSN says there is. I would expect that, as usual, TSN is right and Sportsnet is not when it comes to the trade deadline.

I think you can have 3 goalies for as long as you want. Edmonton did it for about a month last year. The only rule I know of is a 23 player limit for the NHL roster, not counting injuries.

I hope this jacks up the value of other guys because there is nothing to say Bishop isn't already a better goaltender than Bernier.

Such a smart move by Murray... if Bishop can become a legit NHL goaltneder and maybe a starter, wow.

I like the deal but this essentially means lehner is back in the ahl for next season.

Unless Ottawa plans to flip one of them for another trade?

Neither one is gauranteed to be anything at this point so trading one is not the best idea. All this means is Auld is done and the depth in the organization at basically every position is amazing.

Strickland is saying the same thing...

On the roster limit: I believe that goes out the window after the trade deadline passes.

If they both pan out, one will be flipped. In three years.
