Ottawa acquires Ben Bishop for a pick

Type 6 Free Agent:

Must play 17 games this year (minimum of 30 minutes per game) to get RFA status, but the Sens will most likely announce a 1 or 2 year extension with him per the rumours.

Dreger says trade call still needs to happen.

Which pick is it though...

Hopefully Sens can re-sign him and add to our depth next season.

Who is more upset now? Auld or Lehner?

So, does he need to pay those 17 games in Bingo or Ottawa?

Fantastic deal for Ottawa if all they gave up was a pick or two. Basically fills the need to draft a goaltender this year in the draft. Only difference is all the development has been done and he's NHL ready.

I'm not sure if he will get into 17 games this year, which kind of sucks.

Per TSN, deal is for 2013 2nd. 1 year extension was signed.

Doesn't really matter. Auld isn't an NHL goalie and Lehner has a ton of time in front of him. Picking up Bishop and giving up nothing in the organization is impressive.

So, Lehner back to Bingo and it becomes the Bishop/Auld show until Anderson back, when it becomes the Biship/Anderson show so he can get his 15 games in?

EDIT: Now see he is signed to a 1-year extension. Beauty.

Free agent staus now irrelevant as Bishop is now under contract through to the end of next year.
