Soft, yes, and at other times he looks nonchalant out there. Like he's going for a skate on the canal. Karlsson never did that.

That's how he plays, even in Sweden. He doesn't have Karlsson's skating ability and that's why it often looks like he is nonchalant.

And it has to change.

He was there... Easy to spot. He was the one in red turning the puck over and not really doing anything to help this team.

Very frustrating game from him.

Rundblad needs some AHL time for sure. Bingo needs some D too. Carkner is close to ready.
Good thing we play tomorrow. Auld better not poop the bed.
Spezza is frustrating, but Greening and Butler are not helping.

7 blocked shots. That's all they managed. Remember when A-Train blocked 8 just by himself?

It will. He's a rookie from Sweden.

And on that goal by Ovechkin, should Karlsson have stayed with him all the way around and to the other point? As it was happening my gut said he should have let someone else take over (kinda play zone), and then OVechkin did exactly what I thought he might and Karlsson fell for it.

Karlsson did the right thing, if he lets him go there he would skate right into the slot. Ovechkin made a nice move, simple as that.

OK, then it's just execution. He let him go wide on him and was struggling to catch up all the rest of the way. There was another play in the 1st when he got caught looking at the puck and Ovechkin turned him inside out.

He wasn't even struggling to catch up, he kept Ovechkin to the outside which is what you want to do there. Just a great move and shot by Ovechkin, really not a lot to it. Great players make great plays.

He *was* struggling to catch up. Ovechkin kept ahead of him the whole way and Karlsson was so intent on catching him that he forgot that the guy can also stop on a dime.

Yeah, at some point Spezza needs to be a lot better than that, and soon hopefully, while we're still right there in the hunt.

Let's not debate this, that's too hard to defend to even discuss about it.

Spezza was -3. He lost 65% of his faceoffs. Bad game for him.

Spezza is frustrating, but Greening and Butler are not helping.

Butler isn't but Greening was the reason that 3rd goal happened tonight. Michalek carries that team offensivly.

Spezza needs to be with Alfie and Michalek on a permanent basis. Period. Enough with this Greening and Butler experiment. Greening would be great on 2nd line with Foligno and possibly Butler. Spezza looks like crap playing with Butler and Greening because he feels he has to do all the puckhandling when they're on the ice.

and I don't understand why people are complaining about Ovechkins "spear" on Neal (even the coach). Looks like he barely touches him. Neil looks right at the ref as he is falling.

THe +/- tonight on the Sens are a very good summary of the night.

fyp.

Also, I think that would be a great experiment. I'd love to see how that works out. We'd have a very young 2nd and 3rd line, but I think it would be worth a shot. Teams would put everything they could against our 1st line, but I think the other two would contribute a lot and the 1st would still be able to produce.

Maybe they do that when Regin comes back? Folgino-Regin-Greening

I believe Neil went to the dressing room after that spear. So it was more than a tap. The commentars said it was a dirty play...

Players have been kicked out of the game for much less than what Ovey did... It was a deliberate attempt to injure -- should have been 5 and a game...

If that's 5 and a game then the refs have truly hit a new low. Watch the video and it appears he barely touches Neil. 2 minutes tops.

That's a bit extreme, but I do agree that it should have been a penalty. It may not have looked like much depending on the angle you (that's a general "you") were watching, but from the one I saw, Ovie had a lot of mustard on that spear. Also, you don't need a whole lot of force to put someone on the ground when you're hitting in that area.
