Meh. To me, it looks like a work ethic thing, especially when he loses his man in his own end. At any rate, I don't see the same thing affecting Greening, for instance.

I have high hopes for BB, but he has not looked particularly good for about 2 weeks now.

He's used to about 40 games and he's closing in on 80 now between the NHL and the AHL. He's hit the old 'brick wall' that NCAA guys crash into.

Rooney's point was that Greening is in the same position. However Greening has 30 lbs on him and has played only 22 games in the NHL vs. 32 for Butler.

We're also dealing with 2 individuals. It's not surprising that they're dealing with the sked in their own, individual ways.

Greening was here on an emergency recall so he had to be sent back.

Yeah, I know. If it were up to me (and allowable), I would have sent Butler back. He's losing his way.

Likely exhausted. Not used to the schedule yet. Said so in an interview a short time ago.

Well let's not compare work in the defensive end between a goal scorer and a good 2 way guy who is bigger and 2 years older. I'll give him some slack since it's his first pro season. He was very good in Bingo at the beginning of the year. He's played 79 games this year, 76 games the 2 years before combined.

Again, and why does that not apply to Greening?

Oh, I'm giving him slack. But between BB, Greening, and Condra, BB has easily been the least impressive over the last two-week stretch or so. But, no, definitely not time to give up on him just yet. Laugh1

Winchester used to be awful too at one point in his rookie season I remember.
Let's just say some players are different than others stamina wise and that's just the way it is IMO.

This timezone difference must really suck for you. I need to communicate with our India development center fairly regularly, and with daylight saving it's gone up to 10 hours. You're what, 12 hours?

Anyhow, haven't seen anything yet.

i'm in Bali at the moment so it might be 13 now? it's really hard to figure out since i'm not sure which way to add or not is it + an hour or - an hour.

as far as the time difference, yeah... the only time i get on here is once everyone is off... sometimes capn is on at 5 in the morning.. sometimes i catch the morning buzz from you guys when I'm in late. one thing for sure i'm late for news.

i've got to figure out a way to stream the draft when it happens, i'm sure someone will have it up? i'll probably be in some small town in Laos when it happens Facepalm , maybe i'll be lucky to find a computer...

i'm going around SE Asia for 6 and a half months. i so wisely predicted we'd fall this season and decided it be best to make my escape Sarcasm .
i'm not a huge fan of winter apart from the on ice product. so every 4 year or so i vacation down here for some diving and what not. i'll be back end of july after all the summer fun of the draft and FA period.

HA! far from it. it's called managing a shoestring budget. Asia is about one of the cheapest place on earth to travel in, counting that you can make a few concessions on comforts.
it's also my 4rth time going so i know the place a little and know how to get around cheaper.

I do miss being back home and the hockey (i managed to come and read this site almost everyday).

I didn't get to see the majority of it. How did Da Costa look? Sounds like he didn't get too much ice time and wasn't really noticeable when he was out there. That was probably to-be-expected after spending all of one day with his first NHL team. I saw a couple clips of him in the warmup taking direction from the other guys on what to do.

Da Costa was noticable if you were paying attention. Amazing hands, on par with Karlsson and Spezza for sure. He was obviously a little over his head in that game but towards the end he didn't look out of place and you could see that he could very well be an NHL player right now let alone next year.

I was supper impressed with what I saw, personally.

Plus, he hit a post coming in left to right in, I think, the second period. Decent looking wrist shot.

I would say it's more of a quick release than anything. Not a ton on the wrist shot from a pure power perspective... he will get stronger though and he needs to.

Good debut though.
