I thought the premise for the deal would have been the fact Ottawa would give him playing time this season. Much like Butler did last year. No?

He'll play this year and blow a year off his ELC. I'm sure that was a big factor in him signing here.

He may even play against Toronto on Saturday.

I wouldn't think they would burn a year, but then again, if that's the case we can send of the AHL guys back down to help with the playoff run there. A bunch will be going back for the run anyway...I would think once the NHL season is done, Hale, Wiercioch, Condra, Butler, Greening will all go back to play if needed.

He will play this year, likely a few games. It will get a few more bums in seats for the final homestand and it was likely part of the deal to get him here.

Huge news. I agree with those who're saying that he'll probably play this year and burn a year, just like Butler did. That'll give him a year to try to work his way onto the team.

For those who're worried about where he'll fit, keep in mind that Shannon is definitely a utility guy and can sit. Regin could be packaged, as could Foligno (I hope he isn't, but it's possible). Murray is definitely aware of the fact that things are starting to get crowded. I'm sure he has a plan.

Have I mentioned that I'm getting excited about next year?

Apparently he'll be in the line up against the Leafs this weekend.

BTW... if Boston beats the Leafs tonight Ottawa can officially eliminate the Leafs from the playoff race tomorrow.

I don't expect much from him. No more than what Butler did late last season but yeah, what a hell of a jump for the guy. Right from College to playing in the bigs in a Leafs-Sens show down. Likely in front of a sell out crowd too. Wow... Do ya think he'll be a little nervous?
