Diddle-a-doodle-doo, I hadn't thought of that. It works. Now does Murray have the stones to trade Kelly? And if so, is there any team out there who wants Kelly for 2.1 million for 3 more years? :****:

I think there is. Maybe he could get us a 3rd for this year and a prospect.

That would be fantastic. Now the problem is addressing our PK after losing two of our better ones in Vermette and then possibly Kelly.

It blows hot chunks now, perhaps a couple of cheap PK specialists is what the doctor ordered. Yelle, Grier, Pahlsson, there are tons of guys out there who are to become UFAs.

Wichester will be one of those guys. A big body who can skate and is smart with the puck, it will take some time though, doesnt happen over night.

I also still miss the faceoff abilities of Vermette. How many years had Ottawa waited and tried to trade for a faceoff specialist?

Again, Wicnehster is turning into a good faceoff guy as well. There is no quick turn around in Ottawa, people are going to have to be patient.

Its not 1 bad year now, its 2. This wont change over night, this team has a long way to go. Too many things have to go right next year for the Sens to have a shot at the the playoffs, let alone contend for the cup.

I know it didn't happen by the deadline, but I'm still standing by what I've heard that Ottawa and L.A. are talking and one of the big 3 (specifically Heatley or Spezza) would be moved out there for defensive prospects.

I also heard that Fisher could be moved as well as Murray is not happy at all with him or Heatley for their production (for Heatley attitude and work ethic) and his comments yesterday were more or less directed at them (plus a couple of others).

I'm still not sure that Bozak has to be a C, i've heard reports that he could play RW and if so then that helps to fill to the lack of depth Ottawa has at RW

Although interesting/good news, I don't want defensive prospects. Damn...we need real D-men and guys willing to put in 100% on offense.

Tuebert is the kind of guy that teams will be afraid to play against in the future. Mean as the day is long, smart, and his offense seems to be coming around.

If you can get him in a deal, you do it. You pair that guy with Karlsson going forward, you have maybe the best duo in the NHL in 5, 6 years.

Like it or not, Ottawa is going to rebuild without it being totally blown up.

We now have 2 good, solid goaltenders, now its time to stack the defense. Worry about the offense later because we have all the tallent in the world up there now and we are a last place team.

I hate to say this but I would be open to moving Heater for D-prospects but a 1st would need to be added. If that were the case Murray could then focus on draft some depth forwards.

Moving Fisher would be nice as well but I don't think Murray would move both Heater or Spezza and Fisher in the same year.

Not know much about Bozak other than whats in the media at the moment I am sure he would be open to playing any position as long as he can play. I do think he makes Kelly expendable though from what I have read about his skill set.

Without seeing Teubert play, I'd have to take your word for it. I'm all for stacking the D, but can't we get a guy who's frickin amazing now? That's what I want. A guy on his entry level, who's playing incredible D. Not a guy who's never set foot on the NHL ice surface. It makes me nervous - especially when big names are involved from our POV.

You're going to have to be patient, the now is gone, its about the future in Ottawa. This is a bad team in Ottawa with a ton of INDIVIDUAL pieces. It takes time to build a team the right way.

Mistakes were made with Spezza, Emery, and a few others in terms of disapline, work ethic, so on. That needs to be corrected, it starts with keeping the leaders (Fisher, Phillips, A Train, Alfi) and you develope your youth based on their work ethic and love for the organization.

The goaltending is sorted out, now you worry about the D and how to build that the right way. Phillips and A Train are exactly the guys you want here to help build the D the correct way.

Tuebert is a nut job though (in a good way). He does not give a F***.

The names I've been told is one of...

Harrold, Quincey or Greene,

and one of

Tuebert, Hickey or Voynov.

Personally I'd take Tuebert and Hickey plus their 1st for Heater..

Hickey has more offensive upside than a lot of people give him credit for, and we already know what kind of a shut down tandem they can be together...having those 2 guys as your 5/6 right now would be awesome.

Karlsson is ahead of Hickey for sure and prob ahead of Tuebert. I dont see LA giving up both of those guys and the Sens would have to take a little salary back.

Tuebert, Frolov, and their 1st

for

Heatley.

Thats more realistic IMO.

So aside from that do you have any thoughts on how to tweak this roster?

Drop Fisher to play with Neil and Kelly, or that calibre of player and get some talent on the 2nd line.

You're screwing up 2 lines to get blood from a stone. Enough already. Frustrated2

Agreed. It's getting real tired and boring. We clearly overpayed him...very frustrating. There are a lot of things I love about him, but he's just not a guy that can score, plain and simple.

So, are we going to designate Fish a 3rd line grinder from now on? Hopefully Clouston can get more out of him next season. He's gotta start paying out soon.

Sold...

I'll call Dawg and have him relay the offer to Lombardi.
