In all honesty, I think the guy the Sens end up with is Bobby Ryan if there is a big named winger coming back. Fits into Ottawa plans like a glove.

I doubt either GM will let such a player walk away for free.
I was gonna say that, yeah. And the team that gives up a 1st + prospect + to get either one will likely make a major push to re-sign. That's why I don't like banking on UFAs, but...if they're around when July 1 comes around, I'm sure we'll be in on them with bells on.

Problem there is we're competing with 15 other teams and the price might be too high, but yes, him or Perry would be great.

I think this is the perfect year to give up that 1st. You can pick up a guy young enough via trade that you don't need to pick anyone.

Those kind of guys. Maybe even someone like Bogosian.

How many of those 15 teams can take a 5.5 mil cap hit for 4 years without having to trade back a cent?

I dunno...7 or 8? I know what you're saying, but you know how this works, bidding wars can be damaging. That said...Murray must be salivating at the thought of getting either one of his draft picks Perry or Getz or a sniping winger who's big to boot in Ryan.
I think I speak for all when I say...go Murray!

If Ottawa doesn't trade anyone in the top 6, Smith, of the 2 studs on the blue... they are fine. Silfverberg, Lehner, and Zibanejad are probably off limits too... probably Borowiecki
Ottawa has a 1st round draft pick, 2 3rds, Noesen, Peumpel, Stone, Weiroich, Gryba, Prince, Hoffman, Da Costa. On the current team Butler, Foligno (even though they should try and avoid that), Daugavins, those guys can all be moved. There is plently of assets to make a trade.
No way a star player goes back for any of Nash, Parise, or Ryan.
NEELY wrote:If it was a trade like Butler, 1st rounder (2012) Stone, Wiercoich for Ryan... good luck to any team trying to top that with the cap space to take Ryan.
