Looks like Fishers success is more important than team success. GAME DAY: Ottawa Senators @ Atlanta Thrashers - 7:00pm ET - Tue. Jan. 12th, 2010 - Page 5 457303
Well, he was carrying the team when he was successful... wasn't he?

Looks like we are back to the same old "get Fisher going story".

This is exactly why he's not on Team Canada. He doesn't make the players around him better, rather the opposite. I love the guy, but that's the cold hard truth.

Never!

Uh...yeah. He's pretty much the reason we're in a playoff spot. He sucks like a vacuum right now, but he was ridiculous in the first half. We should be trying to get him going.

Fisher's done everything that can be asked of him. He's just not a first-line player, and that's no insult to him.

Unfortunately, it also highlights a bit of a dilemma in all these Spezza proposals.

How much of Fisher going was due to other players like Kovalev?

I can't believe I am saying something positive about Kovalev on a night he didn't score 4 times.

Not this way. I agree that we need him to be better but not with gravy minutes on the point. He should be getting the dirty goals in front of the net. That's my point.

Get it? Point?

So is this the Sens version of the drive for five? Facepalm

Take this for what it's worth, which is very little, but I was talking to a friend of the family, who knows someone that traveled with the team to Washington, who told my family friend that the Sens aren't a "team" and there is no bond between these players.

Like I said it's not worth much as I don't know in what capacity this guy traveled with the team in. I also don't know what reference points this guy is using. Does he know what a true NHL "team" looks like and how they bond?

I just thought it was interesting to hear and it could explain why, with the talent on this team, they aren't further ahead in the standings - Prior to the injuries of course.

Well, chemistry is a huge factor in how a team performs and is often the difference. But, like you said, who really knows besides the players in that room and Clouston.

I would love to get the real scoop on how much of a "team" Ottawa is as compared to the Wings and Pens in the Cup finals the last two seasons.

I am not sure about all of this. I hear good room some days, bad room. I just want to be proud of the effort of the club. The truth is that the effort is there. We have been decimated by long term injuries, plain and simple. Healthy, we are a 5th to 7th place team but we don't have enough depth (neither do 90% of teams), to absorb our entire top line being out for an extended period, our top goalie out for an extended period and our top pooh disturber out for an extended period. Plus tons of smaller injuries like Donovan's. All of which is happening to us now.

I am still going to cheer for my offensively challenged club and hope that they can eek out a few while we wait to get Alfie back. It is still the case that Alfie is the straw that stirs the drink in Ottawa.

Yeah, missing Alfie for this long certainly has an effect... getting him back with the team, skating will go a long way I think.

I think getting Spezza back will shift players back to their more appropriate rolls on the team which will also help overall.

The question is what do we do about our Defense? What will get Kuba back to solid play? Can anything convince Clouston to put Karlsson with Phillips?

Oh dude....I just got it because you just got it.

Yeah, the two of us can go sit at the far end of the bench.

That may just be press box worthy if not conditioning stint in the minors. Laughing3
