Wouldnt say that, haha, but turning a UFA from a year ago into a top 10 pick... Not really expecting this to go down anytime soon though.

The more I think about it, the more it would make sense for them to trade him (Filatov) Whether it's going to be to us is another question.

I like our odds better than anyone in the West.

I'd do it if Volchie or Foligno aren't involved. I like Winnie but he is nowhere near Filatov's talent

Funny you should mention Foligno. I think he's the exact player that would ensure we get Filatov.

I think he's going to eventually evolve into a Fisher and I like the way he plays and battles on the boards. I'd like to keep him here for as long as possible. I'd be upset if he goes via a Filatov trade but I wouldn't be calling for Murray's head over it cause it would make sense.

Winchester is already closer to being a Fisher than Foligno is, only with better vision.

As I said earlier Campoli/Lee and Foligno for Filitov and a mid-rounder works for both sides.

Filitov Cap hit - 2.2M

Foligno and Campoli cap hit - 1.5M

Donovan on LTIR - Cap hits work.

If Ottawa actually got a Filatov for something like Lee, Winchester, and a 2nd, Ottawa's going to be about as competitve as anyone in The NHL while rebuilding.

If they could add another center with a ton of speed somewhere down the road... *cough Gagner* The Sens could be the fastest team in the league up front, have a stud defense, and a stud goaltender (maybe 2). That is a team that would be competeing for the cup in 4 or 5 years and probably for the next 7 or 8 years after that...

Foligno has upside, but he looks quite slow, don't know what his final potential is but it might be 3rd liner.

Not this guy. I'm not giving up Foligno for the headcase that apparently is Filitov.
There's a reason he's not playing in the NHL right now guys. He's not ready, Columbus brought him up way too early, burned a year on his contract, and it's obvious that he couldn't adapt to the NA style. I personally think that this kid is a flop.

That being said, if the deal is for what Mark mentioned (Lee, 2nd, and Winch/Shannon) I'd definitely roll the dice, because he has the talent and potential to be great, but I dunno if I'm letting go of any mainstays for this guy.

ESPECIALLY all this talk about Volchenkov? Are you kidding me? Volch's value at the trade deadline will be ridiculous. Dish him to Chicago for someone like Seabrook +, and alleviate their cap issues.

I think everyone and their dog knows that Filitov is increasingly going the way of the Brian Lee... especially after playing a year, then getting denoted and sent down to the KHL. The organization can spice it up however they want, but at the end of the day, he wasn't good enough to be there...

We rolled the dice on Kovalev and look how that's working out... I'm not a fan of rolling dice...

Yaaaa, but you have seen Filatov domiante at certain levels and if he ever puts so muscle on that frame he could be an absolute beauty.

I like Filatov and his potential, def more then I like Folingo at this point. ( I do like Foligno)

Not with Hitch as coach, IMO. I cant stand him as a coach and I think his team has actually stopped listening to the guy. He doesnt know how to handle young tallent and even though Filatov might not be ready this very second, he will be in the next year or two.

He's a winger that can cheat a little on the defensive side of things because of the postion he plays... give him a guy like Fisher covering up for him or Michalek, and he could be a fantastic addition. Not to mention the fact he would fit right in with the young core they are trying to build.
