I would be all over that trade .... I still think Columbus has plans for Filatov though unfortunately

Also, I hope you don't expect Seabrook for VOlchenkov...

Brian LEe should have been taken in the last 5 picks of the 1st round, Filatov was arguably the best forward available after Stamkos. Stamkos struggled big time last year also. Wilson is not blowing anyone away either, Hodgson is different he is injured.
Have you seen Colombus' top 6? Who would you take off to get FIlatov in? They're not gonna give him 4th line minutes so they'd rather play him in the AHL, but the kid would rather go back home to get more cash obviously, but probably would like to be closer to his family and friends and try again next year. I don't see anything wrong with that personnally.

I would think that Lee/Campoli and Foligno for Filatov and a mid-round pick would work for both sides.

Believe me, I know that Filatov has skills- but if he REALLY had the ilk that you guys are painting him to be, he'd be in the NHL right now. Again, I don't think there's anything remarkable about Columbus' top 6. Obviously you've got Nash, Vermette and Huselius who have been playing well (mostly a product of Nash), everybody else has been fairly average in terms of top 6. My argument is simply that if he was THAT good, he'd be playing. When you consider Foligno, who has been playing mostly on the 3rd line, and at some times the 2nd- has the same amount of goals as everyone in Columbus' top 6 with the exception of Nash and Huselius. Not to mention he plays with a tough and in your face style similar to Fisher's- I'm not giving him up for a guy who ripped up in junior- lots of people do that. I flip the question back to you- who on our top 6 would you drop for him?
If I'm columbus, i'm putting him in the AHL to rip it up and get used to the NA game- not sending him to the competing KHL just because he's closer to his family and friends. He's 19, he needs to grow up. I dont know, it seems like there are far too many "If"s with him- "If he gains weight" and "If he can develop a two way game" and "If his skills can transfer over here" and "If he's put with the right people".
I know it seems like i'm bashing him, and I'm not- the kid has definitely shown that he has talent and definitely has potential... I'm just not ready to give up contributing regulars on our club for him. I think it's absurd to argue for things when they aren't broken.
As for Volchenkov, you're braindead if you don't think that everybody in the league is calling about this guy come the trade deadline. Especially teams that are competing and are tight against the cap. This is the type of guy you want going into the playoffs- a warrior, a guy who will block tons of shots, make big hits, play sound defensively, and play through any kind of injury imaginable... And off the books next year, with the potential to resign him... he has ALL KINDS of value.

Russell for Lee sounds exactly right. Problem is...we no longer really need Russell, right?

Or Murray has decided that the Campoli experiment has failed? Then you're looking at Campoli, Lee and whatever for Filatov and Russell. Maybe.
Either way, this deal will be done by noon tomorrow.

Foligno has upside, but he looks quite slow, don't know what his final potential is but it might be 3rd liner.

He can also fly an airplane.
