Or is it just poor decision making? Because there is nothing about a hockey player that ppisses me off more than a player that makes idiotic decisions on the ice.

Fat and lazy. MacT wanted to kill him last year. :^^^^:

Ill take a former NHLer's kid any day. They for the most part know exactly what it takes, especially the ones as tallented as Gagne.

Foligno (maybe 2?) Gagne, tons of character right there.

Penner, Gagner and 10th overall, I do it. I think Sam Gagner gets 70 points next season.

Dustin Penner, Sam Gagner and we draft OEL/Cowen + Scott Glennie/Kadri/Kassian/Josefson. Would rock my socks.

No kidding man... Gagner has Character (not the capital). The guy may never be on that ellite level, but he's a player I would love to have on my team.

I'm also quite willing to take on Penner's salary. He's got more in him than he's been showing in Edmonton. He could come here and not have the pressure of being the guy that signed that contract...ASQ is right, though, that there are many "ifs" that would make me weary of it...

Thats supposed to say "note"...

Oh, Diddle, I had no idea what you meant there. :^^^^:

I like Cogliano a little better, but one of him or Gagne with Eberele is the start of any talks with that 10th overall.

Not the biggest Gilbert fan either... If we need to take salary it could very well be Vivsovsky.

But you don't want Gilbert or Visnovsky? Not the stud you want on the back end?

These are need to know things at this point.

So, Gagner, Eberle, 10th overall? No Gilbert or Visnovsky? Huh...

Vivnovsky is a great guy to have on the point, wouldnt cry if he was part of it. Our D would also be pretty solid as well. Picard and or Lee may very well go back.

Penner? We already have a 4.2 million dollar power forward who can't score.

Edmonton can take on Heatley's contract, but that means Ottawa has to take salary back.

When was the last time something this massive happened to the Sens? :^^^^: I spent too long on here today - and I'll pay for it tomorrow I'm sure - but it's landmark, franchise changing Dung.

Dont even bother comparing Penner to Fisher. Fisher brings waaaaay more to the table, but there might be a spot on the top line based on Penner's past.

Fisher can do it somewhat on his own.

I wouldn't be unhappy if it was Visnovsky, Gagner and the 10th overall.

That's a fair deal, you likely won't get too much better than that. Unless Murray can sign J-Bo, then drop Visnovsky and add Eberle.

We're not taking Penner. 4.2 million bucks says we don't.

The fact is that any trade is going to include salary. Taking a player like Gagner, who's going to get a substantial raise after next season, could help reduce the returning cap burden, but I pretty much guarantee we're not just getting prospects, picks, and entry-level contracts back... I would love it if we did (assuming it was all high quality) but I don't see it happening.

Depends really... If the trade is Penner, Eberle, Gogliano, 10th overall, and maybe a 2nd, it could get done.

Comrie (2) - Spezza (7) - Alfredsson (4.875)
Foligno (0.85) - Cogliano (1.1) - Fisher (4.2)
Kelly (2.125) - Regin (0.6) - Shannon (0.6)
Ruutu (1.3) - Winchester (0.55) - Donovan (0.625)

Gilbert (4) - Phillips (3.5)
Kuba (3.7) - Volchenkov (2.5)
Campoli (0.63) - Lee/Picard (1.275/0.8)

Leclaire (3.8)
Elliott (1)

Total cap hit: 46.73 million

You can potentially upgrade your top line forward position (Comrie) with a Steve Sullivan if possible. Also, in consideration, if a player that is drafted is able to make an impact immediately and wins a roster position in training camp.

So many others moves to be made. Although some with less certainty. For instance, Murray could potentially forgo acquiring a defenseman such as Gilbert in favor of signing Bouwmeester. That situation is really a difficult one to play though, because there is so much uncertainty with that player's intentions of signing here.

I just think the building block absolutely has to be youth and draft picks. This is how you survive in the new NHL, by winning the scouting battles with the other 29 teams around the league.

I guess we could settle for Hemsky.

For $2 million, I don't see why we wouldn't take a shot. It's not like we are overflowing with secondary guys who can score.
