From the SUN interview...

“It’s his MCL (medial collateral ligament) for sure and he’s having an MRI to see if it’s the ACL (anterior cruciate ligament), too. We won’t know until tomorrow,” said Murray.

Sounds like 5-6 weeks with a sprained MCL

Okay, that's not as bad as I first feared. Let's hope. FingersCrossed
Well, they still don't know the full extent...

They're going to do an MRI to see if his ACL is also an issue. MCL is for sure.

EDIT: MOI beat me to the punch...

IMO, clean hit.

If Donovan had hit Cooke that way, and Cooke had a knee injury, no one would suggest it was a dirty hit.

It's too bad, but Donovan could be back in March/April if it's the ACL. This will give the younger players a longer look without the worry of coming out of the lineup. If they don't produce in 10-12 games, Murray will make his 'tweak'.

What good is Shannon or Regin, when it's an energy player on line 4 that goes down?

Unless Chris Neil is being dropped down and Regin takes back his 3rd line center position. Or, I guess, if Winchester is moved down, but I wouldn't really do that.

Could this be Z.Smith or C.Bass' opportunity?

If something is torn, being a 4th line, 34 year old, his career would effecivly be over. That's a big hit to The Sens IMO, the best hockey they play is when he is in the lineup.

Cooke has been doing that crap his whole career. Really hope there is some payback in Pittsburg.

I thoiink you will see Smith up here in short order if Murray makes a move for a D man.

Kind of hard to tell who's our 3rd and who's our 4th line at the moment. If I had to guess, I think our lines tomorrow will be:

Michalek - Spezza - Alfie
Foligno - Fisher - Shannon / Cheechoo (FFS re-united!)
Ruutu - Kelly - Neil
Winchester - Regin - Cheechoo / Shannon

We've been calling that Kelly line the '4th' for some time now, but they've been playing 3rd line minutes for quite some time -- they're on the ice a lot more than Donovan - Winchester - Cheechoo, for sure.

Time to see if it pays off carrying 22-23 guys on your roster.

I understand what you're saying - and I like those lineups a lot actually. Let's do it!

That's what I meant. Cooke's been doing this since he first made the NHL, perhaps this wasn't full on 'dirty', but rest assured Cooke knew what he was doing.

Next time we play them, he should have to face Carkner, no if ands or buts. Diddling annoying little bastard.

It's 100% a different call, on the ice and afterwards, if Neil puts that exact same hit on Malkin or Crosby, that's for sure.

You guys have seen this, yes?:

Fair enough, I still think he's a cheap Diddle ball though.

Cooke sucks! I hope this isn't how Dono's career ends, that would be too bad. He's been having a great year so far when he's been given the opportunity. I feel terrible for him.

Everything DGB writes is brilliant. His most recent post was great as well.
