I'm just glad it's done, didn't care what we got back as I think we are better without him.

He scored 6 goals in his first 6 games in the league, so he knows a thing or two about scoring. However that was playing on the top line (injuries?) and after 7 games he got sent back down. 13 goals last year playing a full season (79 games?) means the book is still open. If the East is easier to play in (and with the added experience) he should be able to get to 20. I would be very happy with 20, and another 20 for Milo -- that would mean Zibanejad is working out well as the 2LC.

Let's not fool ourselves and pretend we got something for Spezza because we basically got nothing. Clears a LOT of cap and salary though so I expect some signings to happen as soon as free agency starts. Exciting time to be a Sens fan!!!

We got nothing special yeah, but so did Boston when they traded Thornton.
So it depends on what Murray does with the money and assets he has.

And btw, where the hell are the Chiasson interviews? This is the first time that I can remember where a new Sens haven't said a single word.
Have his agent been told he may be re-shipped out?

Boston went out and got a HHOF D man... none of those on the market so no worries there.

Chiasson is in play, IMO.

Would that explain the absence of Sens presser info on him... interviews etc.... in a "holding" pattern...

You think so? That's interesting that you would even think that.

We have RW depth and I think LW and C is a bigger need.

Could be nothing but as people have said there is little talk about him, but I guess that's normal since he's just a young guy and not a household name.

Not a lot of sizzle to the return on Spezza but if you have two of the 4 assets playing 15+ minutes per game in a few years, that is fine with me.

Up to the team to restore the faith of the fan base by spending some dough (wisely).

Well, considering we cleared $6M in cap space in the trade... there is plenty of room to spend now... heh.

Obviously Murray's hands were a little tied with having very few potential trade partners. Chiasson is a really good young player, and should develop well here assuming he can add some muscle. Spezza is a declining asset and is a huge injury risk...plus he may have had his heart set on testing free agency. When you take all these things into consideration, I think we made out OK.

More I read and hear about the Paul kid the more I am intrigued.  Size, skill, and some grit, not a whole lot to hate on.  Question will be about character and I know nothing positive or negative about the kid in that regard.

Clearly what this trade does is open up major options for Murray. Now we have 3 more good prospects in the system, so we can start parting with other prospects for NHLers. It's a smart move IF he can parlay those other prospects into an impact forward - and I wouldn't really put it past Murray to make another Ryan-like trade.

I wouldn't be surprised if Stone was the guy on the way out. We just brought in another young RW in Chiasson.

I would be shocked as Stone is showing he could be a legit 1st line NHLer.  They would move Peumpel, Prince, Hoffman, or someone else before even considering Stone.  I can't imagine the choice Murray gave was between Stone and someone else... Stone is on another level from all of the Sens winger prospects.
