No I did not...

EDIT

Oh and it just dawned on me...

Does anyone think Murray isn't going to be back. Seems odd to me that a GM without a contract has been allowed to make a couple of major signings for long term (ie 3+ years each). You would think if he wasn't coming back, that he wouldn't be allowed to make deals that may not jive with what a new GM would want.

Thoughts??

Yeah, I think most people are thinking the same thing. Why would they let him do these kind of moves - ie, shedding Fisher's money when he has term left, shedding Kelly's contract, re-signing Anderson to a multi-year contract. The guy's got the organization's ducks in a row IMO, he should have every opportunity to do it for another year at least (although, I know a lot of people will hate to hear that).

There is one way in which he would be allowed to make these moves if he wasn't coming back and that is that if "The Gene" is taking more control. I know it's been speculated one or two times before.

I doubt seriously that "The Gene" is trying to take more control, lord help us if he is.

Lord help us is right, that's the last thing we need is a meddling owner in this delicate time.

Mind you...if he orchestrated the Elliott for Anderson trade...then perhaps he has a future as owner/GM. Sarcasm

The only thing The Gene orchestrated is Marshy's one way ticket to the soup kitchen!

I'm surprised no one's mentioning Anderson's comments regarding the Sens' management and coaches going out of their way to greet him and make him feel comfortable. He's definitely taking some parting shots at Colorado in that interview, no questions asked.

The best news is he WANTS to be here and whatever Murray told him and his agent told him about the teams' plans must have been impressive enough.

It's not like we had to throw suitcases of money at him to get him to agree.

And no NTC/NMC ? Not to mention all we had to give up was Elliott who may not even be in the NHL next year ?

Win, win, win.

my guess is that Fat Head would have made a run for him and that certainly would have sucked.

There's been a lot of that this trade deadline. Even the angelic Fishlander took some digs at his former team.

I can't load Anderson's comments at work but I look forward to playing them at home.

For me it's more how his wife was treated when she got here. I'd like someone with connections to confirm the whispers that a couple select wives took her for a tour of the local area and really did the big sell job on her.

Don't know if it's true...more water cooler talk right now than anything.

"It's good to finally have that solidification where I can just go out there and play and worry about performing on the ice. It's great to get something long-term done. For me, you just want to set some roots down and really grow with the guys. I think when you get some shorter-term contracts it's tough to grow with the group."

"For me, it's not about the money," Anderson said. "It's about having a good fit and finding a place where I'm going to be happy, where players are treated with respect and the organization communicates with their players. It just a good feeling that makes you smile and makes you want to come to the rink. You can't put a price tag on that."

Andy taking more shots at Colorado, he must've been really miserable there, the 2-year contract offer definately pissed him off.

I think we did good.

I don't like that 4th year at all and would have loved a lower cap hit for giving it to him, but getting him signed is way more important to the team moving forward then worrying about 500k. I hope that rumours of his moodiness and such don't come to fruition because if there is any place in the world that can ruin a goaltender it's Ottawa.

It certainly sounds like he was at odds with the Colorado management - which is unfortunate, but hopefully the slate is clean now.

He wanted more than 2 years, after what he did last year he figured he earned it. He said it's not about the money when he signed in Ottawa. He has a baby on the way and would like some security.

All he got a was a 2-year offer and he took as it as insult, so his play went downhill.

Hard to play well if you feel your employer doesn't seem to value your contributions.

I think there's more to it than that personally - that's just my opinion, but if the Avs management said that they would only offer a 2 year deal, I'd say no thanks and continue to play hard for July 1. If he sulked and his stats went downhill because of it, he played a very dangerous game - he won the game, but it was risky.

I think there's more to it - like the Sheldon Souray saga, I think he was TOLD by Colorado management to stop messing around and get his arse back in net and he took that as a huge sign of disrespect. This is just a theory, I'm really not sure what exactly went down, but I think it was severe.
