I hope that rumours of his moodiness and such don't come to fruition because if there is any place in the world that can ruin a goaltender it's Ottawa.

It certainly sounds like he was at odds with the Colorado management - which is unfortunate, but hopefully the slate is clean now.

He wanted more than 2 years, after what he did last year he figured he earned it. He said it's not about the money when he signed in Ottawa. He has a baby on the way and would like some security.

All he got a was a 2-year offer and he took as it as insult, so his play went downhill.

Hard to play well if you feel your employer doesn't seem to value your contributions.

I think there's more to it than that personally - that's just my opinion, but if the Avs management said that they would only offer a 2 year deal, I'd say no thanks and continue to play hard for July 1. If he sulked and his stats went downhill because of it, he played a very dangerous game - he won the game, but it was risky.

I think there's more to it - like the Sheldon Souray saga, I think he was TOLD by Colorado management to stop messing around and get his arse back in net and he took that as a huge sign of disrespect. This is just a theory, I'm really not sure what exactly went down, but I think it was severe.

Fantastic signing considering Anderson has a ton of options come July 1 and The Sens have none. Good to know this is a place where he wants to be and truth be told, having a child for the first time there are not many places better for a new family than Ottawa.

Cap hit was lower than I thought, term was a little longer, all in all great signing. The Anderson for Elliott trade is offically a joke.

"It's good to finally have that solidification where I can just go out there and play and worry about performing on the ice. It's great to get something long-term done. For me, you just want to set some roots down and really grow with the guys. I think when you get some shorter-term contracts it's tough to grow with the group."

"For me, it's not about the money," Anderson said. "It's about having a good fit and finding a place where I'm going to be happy, where players are treated with respect and the organization communicates with their players. It just a good feeling that makes you smile and makes you want to come to the rink. You can't put a price tag on that."

Andy taking more shots at Colorado, he must've been really miserable there, the 2-year contract offer definately pissed him off.

I think we did good.

This is the best PR the organization has received in a long while. And it speaks loudly to how respected BM is in this league.

Big thumbs up all around here.

Anderson was also injured during the season and because he didn't sign a 2 year deal which he felt was a slap in the face, he was thrown under the bus in Colorado. Good luck to the Avs because they are in for a long road with no real leader after Foote retires, no real defense other than a bust of a 1st overall pick, and Duchene who is basically their center peice... Stastney is a wild card.

I agree with you Spez. I think the bad attitude that people are hearing about may have stemmed from the Avs organizations treating him and others poorly. He seems to be really taken a back by the Sens management and the organization and the level of professionalism they have shown him. Amazing how people respond when you show them a little respect.

Couldn't agree more. The details were slightly different than what a few of us thought, but this is a great signing and the trade is now proving to be a brilliant gamble.

Yeah, I was trying to write that post at work and in the second paragraph I meant to add the bolded part:

I think there's more to it - like the Sheldon Souray saga, I think he was TOLD by Colorado management to stop messing around and get his arse back in net - when he wasn't ready to come back from injury - and he took that as a huge sign of disrespect. Teams need to realize that this isn't just a faceless business, there's a lot of interaction that needs to happen between players and coaches - and even the GM from time to time. You know Yzerman comes down and pats his guys on the back during practice once in a while, you know Holland sends out flowers for one of the player's wives birthdays - why?, so they can continue their relationships/friendships so players will continue to want to play for your organization.

IMO, Sherman is killing the Avs slowly but surely.

At least there's no one to send him to concussion land with a shot in the head anymore Confirmed: Anderson Signs 4 year extension - Page 10 159628

Also it's pretty clear he didn't like the lack of veteran leadership in the Avs dressing room.

I never really thought of it that way. Is that really an excuse? Couldn't the Avs have addressed that issue?

He keeps repeating it in interviews...Guessin' that's what he thinks is the reason they weren't able to overcome the injuries and bad stretches.

Huh, I must have missed that part of the interview, I watched half and was pleased, so I stopped watching.

He said that he didn't like the veteran presence in the Avs lockerroom?

He sure seemed stoked about the Phillips signing. I raised an eyebrow at that comment--seemed a bit odd--but it makes more sense with the bolded statement above in mind.

I listened to one on the team 1200 when he just got traded and he said that, and the other one today from the Healthy Scratches he also said the same thing. He said they were too young and didn't have enough leadership in the locker room during the 1st interview, and today he said, when asked where he sees this team going forward, that it's going in the right direction because the team has enough veteran leadership in the locker room and the Philips signing was key.
