Phillips re-signs

Well, it's official. Trade deadline day in Ottawa is going to be BALLS. Not unlike every other year during the Murray tenure I suppose. A lot of sitting around and waiting for nothing of substance.

Although, it'd be worth hitting refresh 234095784890734857 times on various hockey sites to see Kuba traded.

Time to move one of Kuba or (more likely) Campoli.

Darren Dreger says 9.25 over 3 years (slightly under 3.1) and a NMC. As a pure fan, I'm happy. With my GM hat on, this is fine but final judgement rests on who Murray can ship out before next season.

Tsn is saying it's 9.25 million over 3 years. Maybe with that 250k he can shave those eyebrows. They look like Cussing caterpillars growing on his face.

Campoli is the only free agent after this year (RFA). Cowen, Rundblad, Phillips, Gonchar, Lee, Carkner, Karlsson, and Kuba all have contracts for next year.

Yeah, Cowen will be a pro either in Ottawa, or Bingo, as will Rundblad in all probability. That's 8 not even including Campoli. If Kuba can't be traded, I'd like to see him waived before next season starts.

Sure, I'd go for that if the deal wasn't a slap in the face in terms of what we got back.

Solid deal. Nothing wrong with this. Both sides gave in a little, Phillips took A LOT less when looking at the bigger picture and Ottawa gave him 3 years of security.

People shouldn't look at this at Phillips taking 300-400 K less, they should look at it as taking 10 million dollars to stay in Ottawa, that's what he gave up in gauranteed money. I'll never question his loyalty ever because Lord knows I wouldn't turn down that cash to stay in a city.
