Ottawa, ON (Sports Network) - Several members of the Ottawa Senators are slated undergo surgeries to fix a slew of injuries.
The Ottawa Sun reported late Tuesday that defenseman Chris Phillips, long-time captain Daniel Alfredsson and forwards Alex Kovalev and Milan Michalek are all scheduled to go under the knife.
Phillips will have a procedure to remove bunions and bone chips from both his feet which were causing problems with his skating, and faces 3-to-4 weeks of recovery time.
Alfredsson is expected to have sports hernia surgery later this week and will need 4-to-6 weeks to bounce back.
Kovalev was scheduled to undergo surgery to repair a torn ACL in his left knee earlier Tuesday in Pittsburgh, and Michalek will have the same thing done at a later time. Each player will have 6-to-8 weeks in rehab.
Ottawa, which ended the regular season as the fifth seed in the Eastern Conference, was eliminated in Saturday's Game 6 by the fourth-seeded defending Stanley Cup champion Pittsburgh Penguins.
