People on HF say trade Karlsson but I think that's silly, creating a big hole on defence to just to patch another.

Trade....Karlsson? For who, Filatov? People over there are crazy. Loony

Filatov is an asset right now, nothing more, to the Jackets. He's no longer even a prospect for them because a loan to the KHL is pretty much confirmation that he's no longer a Blue Jacket.

His market value should be equal to Radulov.

That low eh? You may be right. While he's "on loan" his contracr rights still stick with Columbus. I guess there's not guarantee he comes back though. What a mistake to let him go back...

I don't think they had much of a choice. Let's just consider what Radulov would be worth. Then assuming Filatov is worth more, you probably still end up with not much.

Senschirp has been kind enough to post the following:

-There 's plenty of talk about Brian Lee lately. His demotion surprised a lot of people considering his improved play since the call up. Some are suggesting he had a bit of a falling out with the coaching staff in Ottawa. Columbus has an interest. Ottawa would love Filatov obviously but I don't know that the Jackets are ready to give up on him.

-Carolina, Dallas and Los Angeles scouts have all been following Ottawa as of late.

-The priorities for Bryan Murray include a top 4 defenceman and a forward who can play in their top six.

-Among the names believed to on Ottawa's radar; Teemu Selanne and Jussi Jokinen.

- Players believed to be on the trading block; Chris Kelly, Brian Lee, Alex Picard and Ryan Shannon

Diddle I'd love to have Selanne.

I'm not so sure we need another RW. Nice player, though. I'm excited at the prospect of potentially getting a return for Hands of Stone Kelly.

I like the idea of Jussi Jokinen. Some speed and someone who could help with our poor shootout performance. Probably very cheap low risk move.

Alfalfa can play LW with Selanne taking RW. Drool

Versatile, can play any forward position and low bucks/short-term.

Sure. What would it cost? Brian Lee? Seems a shame to do that when we could have easily claimed him off of waivers.

Selanne is probably playing his last year, so we need any more aging players in our top after Kovy and Alfie ?

We need younger players for the future not players having their last hurrah in the NHL.

We're a playoff team so it's normal to acquire that type of player.

I just don't believe in playoff rentals, they rarely work out (flashbacks to Tom Barrasso). Giving up young assets for players who are near retirement ..... Filatov to Ottawa? - Page 11 489887

I wouldn't place any money on us making it past the 1st round assuming we make the playoffs, it's gonna be a tight race.

Now IF we have solid top 6 with no underachievers, solid 3 pairs of defencemen and solid goaltending a playoff rental would "put us over the top".

Don't get me wrong I think all of this can be settled this season but as of now I still have too many unanswered questions to consider us a serious post-season player.

Wasnt he just put on waivers as well? A week or two ago. Jokinen isnt going to make any team better and in fact, given a relative amount of ice time probably makes them worse.
