If he wants to stay close to his girlfriend, that would suggest an Eastern team wold be his preference... Montreal, Toronto... holy crap that would suck for us.

It does seem that he didn't like the way Clouston was taking the team, which boggles my mind as we started to produce under Clouston. There was a great quote by Clouston about Heatley not being able to handle a "pressure system". Interesting...
She lives in Calgary. I think he will go to Vancouver and we'll get Hodgons and a pick back. Then we will go out and sign Bouwmeester and trade Lee for a forward.

How's that sound?

I dont think there is any way Vancouver deals Hodgson. If I'm in Vancouver's shoes, I'll take my shot at a UFA instead of giving away a guy that could be the best player they drafted since Lindon. If we are looking at this objectivly, Hodgson isnt going anywhere, for anyone.

I would love him in Ottawa though.

It's 10AM, isn't that a little early for ... you know?

That's weird, I'm not sure why it came up as my quote. Bass Destruction said this, not me.

Well, like I said a looooong time ago, Heatley played like he didnt want to be here. The way he was with fans and media same deal. He was coached to say a lot of the things he did by thee team and his agent, garenteed.

Heatley is the ultimate primmadonna and hopefully we can give his generous contract to a guy like J Bo coming in, and replace some scoring with Camilerri and who ever we get in a trade.

With the right moves this team could be better next year and set us up perfectly for the future.

I'm sure I read somehwere that Cammalleri is another prima donna. And I'm not at all convinced we need J Bo. We are not going back to the SCF for 2-3 years. By that time Karlsson and Wiercioch will be here and likely contributing. I would much rather take a wait-and-see attitude to see where the greatest need is on this team. Sure, it may be a stud PMD, but perhaps not. If for some freakish reason we are actually contending next year, all that extra cap room will let us go on a shopping spree in March.

I'm agree, no need for JBo.. is he REALLY that much better than Kuba and Campoli.. Look at Boyle and Campbell... they didn't do that much.. the only defencemen I'd pay over 5 million is Chara, maybe Phaneuf... I think he's at 6 million for another 5 years.

I have no probs giving a guy like J Bo a big contract. He is about 6 years away from his prime, which is scary. By the time those guys are contributing, J Bo will be hitting his real stride. Surrounded by a vet D man like Kuba, Phillips, and A train, J bo could be an absolute beast in Ottawa. It's not just the player, its the situation you put him in and the players you surround him with.

Camelerri.... I agree, total primmadonna. BUT so was Marc Savard, and I'm kinda being pulled into both arguments here because I'm not sold on him, but the tallent is there. Is he as the point in his career where he wants to shake that rep? Or is that just the way its going to be? Murray has to do his homework, I just dont know. But he will get you the same numbers Heatley did last year for a lot less.

The next 3 weeks will be interesting to say the least. I do love J Bo though even with his short comings. You're buying potential with J Bo as well as one of the best Dmen in the league who eats mins.

Also, on The Sens, J Bo wont be playing close to 30 mins a night for 82 games like he was in Florida. Lets see how he plays 23, 24 mins a night surrounded by a solid group and system.

I do like the arguments being made for avoiding sinking money into a guy like Jay Bo and I'm on board I think.

However, if a deal like Heatley for Phaneuf came along I'd jump all over it. Imagine this top 4 in a couple years?

Karlsson - Phaneuf

Wiercioch - Volchenkov

You know what's really interesting about this trade possibility? I've heard Senators scouting staff has approached Murray asking him to obtain at least one lower first round pick because they have targeted two players in that area of the draft that they feel the Senators should strongly be looking at.

So I wouldn't be surprised to see a trade involving a mid-to-low first round pick, another draft pick, a top prospect, and either a mid-level prospect or a roster player.

J Bo is def that much better. He gets worn out in Florida, 28 mins a night, 82 nights a year, its impossible not to get drained.

Boyle was the whole reason SJ was where they were, and was easily that teams best player in the playoffs (as short as it was).

Getting back to J bo, this is a guy you can literally have for 15 years from here on out, not that big of a contract, but he is only getting better. This guy is 24 years old with 7 years in the league, that's insane. He can play in every situtuation, play against the other teams best players, and could very well be the best skater in the league. He still has raw tallent but 7 years of NHL expierence at that young of an age. This is an investment in the future as much as it is the present.

While it might be true that he's a prima donna and not a true team player and all that other jazz, let's not deny the fact that he is a rare breed. Natural goal scorers like Heater do not come along every day and if we do end up losing him, it will be a big loss and he will not be easily replaced.

I do hope Murray takes his time with this. Heatley is under contract and needs to play until a deal is made. This going public shouldn't have to hurt us...as long as Brian takes his time. If not, well, we're looking at similar situation to Pronger in Edmonton....

Adding J Bo (who is better than Phaneuf) for nothing is a lot more appealing to me. He is 2 years old than Dion, that's it.

J Bo could literally be here for 10 plus years.

Were they ever. Sites filled with tweenies and bad spelling and random capital letters, and abbreviations of abbreviations... The only thing more atrocious than their spelling, was how they viewed hockey as nothing more than an exhibition of 'hot' guys... And how we talk about rumours and trades, they talk about NHL girlfriends and their professed love for these athletes.

Ugh, i'm going through shellshock... Going to have to move on to something stronger than beer.

I actually wonder if there is some rift between these two guys. If the Heatley rumours are true about why he wants out (ie. problems with Clouston's system that is asking him to work harder), then Heatley and Spezza are likely at odds. I could see Spezza being annoyed with Heatley if the coach asks him to work harder so he just asks for a trade.

All you have to do is watch him when he was at the worlds... The fact that he's tired of playing with Spezza is undoubtedly a part of this decision.
