Leclaire + Heatley for Luongo + Burrows

Interesting idea but I think I'd still take my chances with Leclaire and trade Heatley for a top end prospect and High draft pick. This frees up cap space to bid on Jay Bo.
It does make you wonder if Murray will bundle in a goalie though... now that we seem to be having a log jam... Auld may become part of a deal.

Good point. Who needs a solid veteran backup and an Allstar Winger with 40 to 50 goal scoring ability?

Of those who has a high 1st draft pick and solid top sixer or high end prospect?

Islanders, Colorado, Kings, Oilers, Dallas. I left out some obvious ones like Toronto and Atlanta.

I think Murray has lots of room to work with here. People say that Murray won't get as much because Heatley has asked for a trade, but there will be a few GMs fighting it out to get this guy. That's all it takes to drive up the price. I wish I here some of the conversations Murray will over over the next few weeks until the draft.

MY concern is that Heatley is very particular about where he will or won't play... I've heard that he wants to be be near his g/f which is stupid... cause she should be in ottawa, it's not like she needs to work for a living. If we are limited we're not going to get much back for him.

Don't trade him then. If Murray can't get the best deal he possibly can, make him play. What's Heatley going to do? Sit out? We all saw how well that works in Ottawa.

Does anyone know where his girlfriend lives? Even so, does anyone really believe he would request a trade based on the location of his girlfriend?

If this doesn't help us move up in the draft or add a 1st rounder, it's a wasted opportunity IMO.

No, it's just a bunch of BS at this point. Heatley has now asked for a trade twice with 2 hard nosed coaches. Hartley and Clouston. Heatley has to be in his little comfort zone or he bails.

I'm sure Heatley will come out with a statement, something like he did right after Clouston called him out in Feb, trying to BS the fans in Ottawa and getting us to buy his crap. Wont work.

Murray just better get the best deal possible for this guy.

Move up? We should get another 1st rounder altogether. I would be very upset if we didnt get another 1st rounder.

I personally want another first and a high end prospect. I don't think that's too much to ask for in a trade like this.

No, I agree. It should be a high-end prospect and a high draft pick for this year. The draft is way too deep for it not to be in this year. Plus we need those prospects in our system ASAP.

I am excited at the possibilities now. There's so much potential for improvement just from this one move.

So, it does seem that Heatley has given the Sens a list of teams he won't accept a trade to. No idea who's on the list... but I'm very curious.

If he wants to stay close to his girlfriend, that would suggest an Eastern team wold be his preference... Montreal, Toronto... holy crap that would suck for us.

It does seem that he didn't like the way Clouston was taking the team, which boggles my mind as we started to produce under Clouston. There was a great quote by Clouston about Heatley not being able to handle a "pressure system". Interesting...

Is this in answer to if a high pick and prospect is too much to ask for?

I started a new thread with a poll -- what is the TOP priority in the up-coming trade. Sure, we all want to get one of each (top pick, top prospects at forward and D, stud PMD, goal scorer, etc.) and we probably will get one in several of the categories. But which one is the single, most important piece of the puzzle we are trying to build here? That will likely determine which team we deal with.

I understand the anger but I'm looking past Heatley and onto what's best for the Sens. Sending him to rot in Bingo is THE worst thing that could happen outside of a buy-out.
