Well I am a little late to this news (15 pages of posts late!). I am pretty shocked, but it makes a lot of sense. I definitely agree with the idea of getting picks and prospects. Murray will get a lot for this, but it is a shame that his request is so public. This move could really help set this team up for years to come if done right. It also obviously allows us to get a high end d-man too. Now I really can't wait for trade day!

Who knows, I would love to have J bo at like 10 years 6.5 mil. Contract expieres when he's 34, 35... That would be fantastic IMO. You're getting the youngest UFA in history.

This should be a deal similar to the ones rumoured for Vinny. Maybe there could be a deal with LA to be had.

I don't think you're going to see UFA's getting the money they've been the last few years. With the cap on the verge of a huge drop, players and GM's know the money isn't there, at least not for the long term.

Everyone needs to step back and look no further than Detroit for the answer. Long term deals at affordable and fair deals for all.

And don't forget, Heatley hold's the ultimate decision in his future. We can salivate at all the possible outcomes, but the choice is his. We've been burned by NTC's before, so let's not get any hope up. That is also to say this is 100% true and does not get resolved before the draft.

Radulov is a win-win situation. If comes back he still has 1 year at under 1m and now you have a young top 6. If he doesn't his money isnt on the books.

Heatley has no leverage, he isnt dealing with an idiot in Murray. Murray may say give me 15 teams that you will go to, if he doesnt, Murray will make his life hell in Ottawa.

Also, with The Olympics coming up Heatley can't afford to miss any time or have any trouble at all with anyone in the NHL. This came at absolutly perfect time for Ottawa.
