Until they get crushed by Pronger or Lucic...

Eeks.

Highly skilled and fast PMD's always seem to find a way to avoid big hits and still make a good play up the ice. Don't misunderstand me I'm not comparing Karlsson to this player but as an example Scott Neidermeyer never gets hit and he's a small guy. listed at
6' 1" and 195 lb. http://www.nhl.com/ice/player.htm?id=8458517&view=stats#&navid=nhl-keymatch

That's where Randy Lee will have to step in, maybe put him on a training regime to match A-Train's, should bulk up in a hurry, plus give him some wheaties.

Meh...that's not really Karlsson's thing. He can survive with his little body because he's so slick and can absorb hits very well - and he's extremely physical.

That's the scary part for me. Throw a check on an NHLer and you may bounce off him and cause more damage to yourself. He'll have to start to put together when he can throw the hit and when he should allow the opposing player to go past.

It's neat, at 19 next year he could seriously be a player for us. Age doesn't matter, it's the ability to read plays and get involved without putting yourself or your team in danger - and Karlsson can do that. He'll make mistakes, but so do Rafalski, Kronwall and more specifically Gonchar. I see neat resemblences in Gonchar's game and Karlsson's game. Big, booming shot that teams have to respect - and the ability to find guys squirreled off to the side for the old slap pass.

I still think he could use another year in the SEL, but at this point, I think he might be able to adapt.

That's what I was going for. :^^^^: These smaller, skilled puck movers can absorb hits because of body position and reading the play.

That's been my read on it all along. These concerns about his size are not accounting for things like anticipation and skating skills, which Karlsson apparently excels at.

Besides, he's also known for delivering some punishment of his own. He likes the physical game and fancies himself a Kronvall-type player.

Yeah I don't think size is a huge issue for Karlsson given his phenomenal skating ability.

I envision Karlsson in the mold of a Brian Campbell...to a T.

I would say much more like Niedamayer. Campbell doesnt control the game in his own zone like Karlsson can and does. If your looking for his best comparable, thats who it is IMO.

Brian Lee is almost officially done as a Senator. No longer need a right handed shot with no shot.

so this will obviously be an entry level deal, I wonder how many non cap crunching incentives he will get.

1.3? Does the bonuses still count towards the cap? I think they still do, if not that would be sweet.

I thought they didn't, but am completely unsure because I am not an expert at anything to do with money Laughing3

Exciting times. I know Murray isn't placing high expectations on him and Clouston likely won't either so he's got that at least.

It would be nice to see him have a fantastic rookie campaign much the same way Meszaros did in his first year with the club.

Basically, what ever Lee is making, replace that with Karlsson.

Cant wait to see Karlsson in the lineup next year, and this should spell the end for Lee in Ottawa. He doesnt fit in anywhere at this point.

Anyone else get the feeling Lee may be moved either at the draft or d-day? Although I suppose he could just be sent back to Bingo, or would Murray send Picard down before Lee?
