I kind of hope bergeron pulls a big trade sacrificing many assets in the faint hope to win now. Not duchene because I want him but maybe Lando. Would be a Wing Dang Doodle to play against but the habs will have such an iffy defence when they lose Markov and Beaulieu only averages out to a bottom D and they've traded away sergachev... make it so.

He's survived this long....
I sure hope so! He's not a good coach and I'd rather they stick with him than go after gallant or Julien at this moment.

I think Therrien gets a lot out of that mediocre lineup. I'm not sure you can say he's a bad coach.

Price talking after the game about how they've "lost their identity"...good stuff! Unfortunately, their bye week actually does come at a good time for them.

What identity?  Weren't they always Price and a bunch of decent players?

The Canadiens have a bunch of weird personalities in that room now, so it's not a surprise that things have gone off the rails a bit.

In any case, isn't D help Boston's biggest need?
Hmm, someone will bite for Lando ot Duchene.  Too enticing not to pay up, Lando is probably loved by Neely too.

I think you guys are both wrong. I think it's sakic scouting the habs and took advantage to also meet with Sweeney.

Report was that he talked to Sweeney for most of the second intermission. Not Bergevin.

I assume you meant Bergevin.

Sergachev is their Chabot. There's little chance they moved him when their best D is old.

Really wondering what it is that the Bruins can give the Avalanche. Both teams need help on the back end. Rask?

Don't underestimate the habs likelihood of mortgaging their future for half a chance at a cup. I'm sure they don't want to trade sergachev but they might!

I think Bergevin has got to be feeling the pressure a bit, and the Habs are in their "window", so if they're going to mortgage the future for a Cup run, it wouldn't be unreasonable to do it this year.

Guys on the radio were discussing how the Avs are likely going after McAvoy, perhaps playing that against Sergachev. Honestly, though, Merrie team should be trading a promising defenseman for up front help.

I don't get why Boston would move him, but I don't know a lot about him. I just know that they need some young talent on that blueline.

Montreal and Boston both have two or more D 30 and over. They really can't afford to trade blue chip blue line prospects.

Boston is likely after Lando and Montreal duchene so to me it's two separate deals. But I see it as idiotic to trade sergachev. So they should probably do it. As far as habs being in their window that's complete delusion on their part. They'd need much more than a duchene. If they did win the cup it's because price summoned the Patrick roy of the cup of 93.

Past the goalie they have a few good pieces but many average pieces.

Pacioretty has 28 goals. He's on his way to 40+. Galchenyuk had 28 last year and was on a similar pace before getting injured. Radulov is a beast. Gallagher is good, if a little undersized. Lehkonen is having a pretty good year for a rookie.

They should have enough scoring but something is not going right. Sure the injuries have taken their toll. They only recently got Markov back. Problem is Markov is too old to be their best offensive defenseman. This is why it makes not sense at all to move Sergachev. They've got four forwards who can score 20+ goals (at least two of them can score 30+); maybe five is Lehkonen continues to develop. They need a puck-moving defenseman a hell of a lot more than another undersized center who can score 25+ goals. They need a center with size.

I agree that they need a PMD who can score but they might sacrifice that in the faint hopes they can win this year. Up front I also don't see them as having enough scoring depth to make a serious run. I think their secondary scoring isn't dependable enough.

Their secondary scoring is pretty bad. It's like we have one bad fourth line and they have two. But Duchene will not solve their third and fourth line problems. Seriously, they need some scoring in their bottom six. Those players are surprisingly difficult to find. Someone who won't score 20, but is good for 10-12 while playing around 10 minutes a night (under 10 at ES).

lol. The Stars are paying Cody Eaking $3.85M per year until 19/20 and he has 7 pts this year.

I think we'll end up seeing the Avs, Coyotes, Stars, Jets, Flames, Canucks, Canes, Devils, Red Wings, and Sabres being sellers at the deadline.

It's that better or worse than Bobby? Point per game pet Million for Ryan is 0.0616. Same calculation for Eakin gives 0.0519. however I did not take TOI into consideration.
