Alright lady and gents, it is time.
As we all know, the season is now over and it's time to bring some swagger back in Sens fans Land.
As it stands right now, Senators are 4th last.
This thread will keep track of the Sens' record throughout the (hopefully short) rest of the season, and what player will be available with the 1st round draft pick AKA the more than deserved second coming.
Islanders and Edmonton are pathetic , but Toronto is slowing going away, and NJ has apparently decided to order some viagra AKA Jacques LEmaire. So safe to say if the trend continues, the hockey gods will answer RNH's or Landeskog's, as well as my prayers.

Dear Sens fans, the time has come to embrace the fate, and look forward. Join me as we head through the end of this tunnel. Hopefully as we march, the body of Filip Kuba will slowly degenerate in the abyss.

NJD and NYI are 3 points back with a game in hand. Edmonton is 4 points back with 2 games in hand.

From a tank perspective, Spezza couldn't be coming back at a worse time, although at least there's a bit of distance between us and the 5th spot (Toronto, five points ahead, game in hand) and the spots after that (all at least 8 points ahead, and with games in hand).

I can't see Ottawa falling any further in the standings. Especially now with Spezza coming back we can expect to win enough to keep NYI and EDM below us. Unless NJ continues on their hot streak we're probably looking at 4th and hopefully we don't screw it up so bad that we jump ahead of TOR.

4th is still a nice place to draft from. Don't forget that the draft table we're at will be quite busy with teams looking to move up and maybe Ottawa can take advantage of that situation? It's not all about who's available in terms of who to draft.

By the way, we've got at least five female members now -- two of them post quite regularly; a third one is a bit streaky.

Spezza is not a take-a-game-in-charge kind of guy. I'm not saying that he makes us worse, but he often 'goes with the flow', complements what's happening. If we were on a big winning streak, he'd ride that wave and help push that forward. Seeing as we're on a terrible losing stretch, however, I don't think he's going to do too much to change that. More goals, hopefully, but probably not a whole lot more wins.

Woohoo. My wife can stop calling this a sausage fest. Wink Seriously though what does that have to do with tank nation?

I still see him making enough of an impact that it at least prevents the team from dropping further in the standings but who knows maybe NJ will stay on that run their on and we drop simply because of that. When the Sens have 1 win for all of 2011 it's pretty hard not to improve on that isn't it?

Edit: He should actually make a huge impact because as we all know ( Sarcasm ) the record a team has minus a player is very important and our record without Spezza shows us having only one win so he should make us instantly better.

Without Spezza we went from trying to sneak into the playoffs to some members here suggesting we are the worst team in the league.

Is Spezza going to lead us into the playoffs? I don't think Crosby centering Malkin and Ovechkin could do that, at this point. However Spezza *will* make us better, and that's a concern for Tank Nation. I'm not really sure why you even posted at all, other than to slam a player for not being a top-five player league-wide.

The original suggestion was that with Spezza back in the lineup our recent hopes of catching the Islanders *and* Oilers *and* possibly even the Devils are not very likely to be realized. The Devils have been playing a lot better, lately, so there's hope they'll pass everyone. The Oilers and Islanders, however, have continued to play very inconsistently. We could not catch them going winless in 13 of 14 games; we're not going to catch them now because with Spezza in the lineup we *will* win more games.

The words "Spezza" and "impact" don't go well together. I think we'll be fine.

If you don't have time for this then you really shouldn't post silly stuff. Trust me, I don't discount everything you say just because. I seem to be one of the few supporting your stance on Phillips. Saying that adding Spezza to a losing lineup means we will score a few more goals but won't win any more games just shows how much you can't stand #19.
