I suppose that's a good thing in that our scoring is spread out, but it's a far cry from the last few years with Heatley, Spezza and Alfie being virtual locks to crack 30.
Frankly, I couldn't care less if they only scored 1-0 wins the rest of the way with no-on else cracking 20 (let alone 30). We have guys who are legitimate scoring threats in Spezza, Alfredsson, Kovalev, Michalek, Fisher. Then we have secondary scoring in Regin, Cullen and Foligno (when he returns). The we have guys who can chip in once in a while with Shannon, Neil, Kelly (
).
Where we are really lacking is scoring from the back end. When is Clouston going to put Karlsson on the left point on the PP for some one-timers? When is *anyone* on the team going to shoot the puck first and not stop and ask for directions first? When are they going to learn to put the puck *on* net and not try to put it *through* the net. A quick release and/or better accuracy will score you more goals than a harder shot (Gaston Gingras, anyone?). Don't put the top line on with Phillips/Volchenkov -- that's like taking your anchorman in a relay race and putting ankle-weights on him. Horrible analogy, I know, but I really feel that the top unit needs the best puck movers to become the dominant threat.
