Seriously, have you ever heard this guy on the radio? He does a phone-in interview with Team1200 (listen online) every morning just after 8 (sometimes earlier, but they replay it) and it's a different guy. Calm, knowledgeable, witty. You'd almost think it's not the same person. My theory is that caffeine makes him behave a little like Hammy from Over the Hedge. He certainly looks and sounds like an over-excited squirrel on TSN; but when he's on the radio in the morning (perhaps before the first coffee of the day has kicked in) he is a different person.
Yeah, he's the Hockey Insider on the Fan 590 here in Toronto on Thursdays I think. He's so much better on the radio, doens't get all crazy. I suspect he's only like that for games and when he's going over video highlights.

He should stick to radio.

He knows a lot and knows a crap load about every team's prospects and prospects over in Europe etc...

What are you talking about? He moved in, Vermette was supposed to take his place. Instead he skated to center and left Higgins all alone.

With 10 seconds on the PP he is pinching in and firing into traffic, thats a rookie mistake!!! Thats basic hockey.

They picked up their pace after the first 10min. The second is looking promising. I smell a couple of Sens goals.

He must be raking it in. He's also on the Montreal sports station, daily as well -- is he on every day on The Fan? If yes, then that's three radio spots per day! And he's usually doing it from the airport waiting room or his hotel room. He's got a full job with TSN on top of that, and in January/Fabruary NBC kicks in.

Spezza's playing a very strong game, but what's with the face offs all of a sudden?
Yeah, the face-off stats are not looking good. They got off to a rough start and the shorty was not helping, but they certainly looked better towards the end of that peiod than at the start.

But it doesn't excuse what Vermette did. If your D pinches then the winger has to cover the point, which Vermette did. But when the Sens lost the puck Vermette started skating to center ice, and Higgins barreled right through the spot wher Vermette was a couple of seconds earlier.

Philips was pinching because he thought he had a good chance. A mistake, true, but to call it a rookie mistake is a bit harsh.

He's only once a week on The Fan. They have a different one eacy day. Scotty Bowman, Damien Cox, Glen Healey and Nick Kypreos do the rest of the days in the week. Bowman is awesome - they just let him go on and on.

Brutal. 33% for Fisher and something like 38% for Spezza. Higgins had 5 of the Habs' 12 shots. Plekanec had 2 everyone else had 1 (or none). What happened to Winchester? He had 3 or 4 shifts and that's it?

Again, the fact of the matter is Phillips has been awful all year, and a lot of last year. Vermette is no better, you're right, he has to know what to do there. Doesnt excuse Phillips though, maybe they will get packaged together.

Vermette has to get more physical, its disgusting watching him on the top line.

Some of the shot choices by the Sens are pretty questionable.
