GAME DAY: Montreal Canadiens @ Ottawa Senators - 2:00pm ET - Sat. Jan. 30. 2010
“Eight Is Enough” is soooo ‘70s.
Ottawa (30-21-4, 2nd in the North East and 5th in the Conference) hosts Montreal 25-25-5, 3nd in the North East and 10th in the Conference) Saturday afternoon – the first game of Hockey Day in Canada. On Thursday the Sens extended their current streak to a franchise-record-tying 8 games, doing it in style by beating the current Stanley Cup champs in their own barn.
The Habs come into this game following a slightly different route. The Montreal squad is on a 2-game losing streak, and has fallen 2 spots out of a playoff position. That said, they are tied in points with the 7th seed Flyers, so a win (and some help from other teams) could find the Bleu-Blanc-Rouge Olé-ing all the way to 7th.
As well as Ottawa is playing lately, and as inconsistent as Montreal has been, this is not a gimme game. However if they continue playing The System, a new franchise record will be established around 5PM.
Game Coverage:
Latest updates:
Leclaire skated with the team at morning practice; Kovalev did not. Winchester filled in for Kovalev and skated with Foligno-Fisher. For the Habs, Mara and Spacek are still out so Yannick Weber was recalled.
