I would be interested in stamkos. It would make Zib tradeable for a package to get a top LW

I'm not sure where he fits in on the roster but they are definitely clearing cap space for something.

Did we suddenly forget that Stamkos wants to win a championship as well? He could sign a 1-year deal for less $ with Chicago or another contender. Detroit is not a contender. Buffalo is nowhere near contention.

I'm not really that interested either. What's his $$ gonna be per year? 10 million? That's too much loot for a guy like that.

Winning a championship is secondary for pretty much any free agent. If that were the case he'd sign in Tampa.

I would also say that with his recent medical issues such as complications, I doubt he would sign a one year deal. If something else happens next year it would be a huge buyers beware.

Not a rumour anymore -- Datsyuk is leaving the Redwings with a year @ $7.5M left on his contract and on their cap. I'm assuming he's getting that much and likely more from a KHL club. Expect his contract to be traded to a team that needs it to reach the floor.

I wonder why they have to do that. What are the rules under the CBA for players not honoring their contract? If he truly retires then that's covered under the CBA and the cao hit stays. If he simply goes to the KHL I assume they have to officially suspend him. Does a player suspended by the team still add to the cap hit?

Cap stays he just wouldn't get paid, which he won't be.
