Uhhh, yeah he can, and he's really good at it too.  I dunno why this Mike Green talk started, but there is no way in hell he's coming here.  To suggest otherwise is to ignore a whole slew of facts.

Not yet. He only averages about a minute of PP time. When he truly can play PP he will be with Karlsson on the top unit. They are easing him in.

Look at his PP TOI over the last 5 games, though:
Carolina: 22 seconds (3 PP chances)
Rangers: 47 seconds (2 chances)
Leafs: 1:13 (2 chances)
Dallas: 3:20 (5 chances)
Arizona: 4:42 (5 chances).

If you have 5 power-plays and a D plays 4:42 I'd say he's on the first unit.  He may be averaging 1 minute for the year but he's been used much more recently.  Still not doing much (1G + 1A in January) but the ice time is certainly there.

that was only because 4 powerplays were in the same period. He isn't on the first unit.

Prags, your stats are lying to you again. Don't go all 6th Sens on us, trying to be some sort of #fancystats guru.

Those are straight TOI stats. Nothing fancy about them. You play 4:42 of 10 PP minutes and that's first unit in my books. Even if Karlsson was out there for all 10 Smile

BTW, Ryan Malone on waivers. SD, over to you.

P.S. No, you will never live it down.

Anyways, there's one QB in Ottawa and it's Karlsson.

Gonchar and Karlsson did pretty well when they put them together on the point for a few games.  I could never understand why they undid that change.  So, yeah, two righties can certainly work if one is setting the other up for one-timers.  The only problem is that Ceci isn't used to playing the right side.  Maybe that should change -- at least for the PP.

Gonchar is a lefty...

Yeah, he is a lefty that plays the right side.

Unpossible.

I know it's truly incredible, but there is always an exception to every rule. Like "i" before "e" EXCEPT after "c". See? Exceptions. Exceptional exceptions. The Gonch. Never forget.

Ryan Malone....

I thought he was out of the NHL with a drug charge pending.

He's in the AHL (Hartford). He was placed on unconditional waivers for the purpose of mutual termination of his contract.

So Kassian is a scratch again in Vancouver... again there is a guy I would love Murray to take a chance on.

I'd be interested on what they would be looking to trade him for. That whole trade was a bit of a disaster(so even) for both sides. Hodgson isn't exactly what Buffalo was hoping for. They're talking buyout over in Buffalo already... Geez, you might want to wait, it's not exactly a cap team over there.

But I'd be interested in Kassian depending on the price.

Nah to kassian. We need a top liner, not a third liner who can sometimes be a 2nd liner.

Kassian IMO has the ability to play on a 1st line... but even if he doesn't you need a replacement for Neil at some point and he could fit that role like a glove with a little guidance. Turn Kassian into what he can be, not what someone wants him to be.

From the Neiler himself?!?!? Ahhhhh!

Maybe, yah. I would give up Chaisson for Kassian in a heart beat because I believe the upside offensively is the same but Kassian has much more of an edge and can change a game with it. Same handedness, same size... same offensive output for the most part.

As always, it depends on the price. If its a one for one, why not. If its more than chiasson, don't think you bother.

Evander Kane a healthy scratch. Winnipeg scouting the Ottawa/Devils game last night. Trade imminent?
