He has a limited NTC I believe... could be wrong though. He really doesn't have a say if that's the case short of telling Murray where he doesn't want to go. Playing in NYC or elsewhere for 18 months isn't going to really harm his roots here, his family, or his career.

Maybe he doesn't want to play for a Cup, maybe he doesn't care... but he shouldn't be tying down a roster spot on a team that has little to no use for him.

I think Ottawa's goal is still to try and make the playoffs this year, which is why Matrix isn't likely to be traded.

I think with Anderson they just truly believe they have their #1 goalie and they don't grow on trees.  Think the organization has question marks about Lehner and maybe they look at Hogberg as a potential #1 as well somewhere down the line...?  I don't know that as fact but Hogberg coming in within the next 2, 3 seasons as Anderson's backup isn't that far fetched IMO.

Either way Anderson is the guy and I am glad they made that call, they needed to choose and they did even if I don't agree with it.

They didn't make any call yet dude. I don't know why you keep saying this.

Murray isn't going to ship Philly off if he doesn't want to go, simple as that. For people without kids, it is probably hard to understand how attached you get to them. Phillips has young kids, and I really don't think he wants to be away from them for a year. Also, there's no way he's moving his family to NYC or wherever for a year (like Alfie did). We can argue ourselves in circles if we want to, we're just going to have to wait and see.

One thing on Anderson is that Murray uses the media like no other. When he says to the media 'I can't see myself trading Anderson' what he is really saying to 29 other GM's is 'your offers suck'.

yep this is all I'm saying basically - until one guy is actually moved from the team, then the call has yet to be made

Grew up in the military so people moving because of their jobs and their reservations or whining is completely lost on me.  Boo hoo, people with kids move every day and they usually don't have a say in their destination.

EDIT:  Also why would he have to pick up his family and move?  He would get a condo somewhere around NYC for 18 months, play the game, and then finish his career and retire. Kids and wife stay at home for that time, they come visit here and there and even then they still have the entire summer which is 3, 4 months of that 18. So Phillips (or anyone else on the planet) is away from their family for 18 months while making 2.5 million dollars... what do people in the oil fields do? Military? A lot of other professions? Again, boo F***ing hoo.

Because I don't think Murray is BSing when he says he won't move Anderson unless it's for a completely unrealistic offer. Murray may use the media for certain things and plays mind games but I don't think it's the case here. They have a #1 and there's no real reason to mess with it.

I'm not denying the possibility that this is all a game, they are going to run with Lehner (which I want), and they will trade Anderson when the time is right... I just don't think that's the case and in my mind they made their call with who their guy is for the foreseeable future.

Just hate that argument, bigger tragedies in life than moving to NYC, playing a professional sport, and being away from your family for what will amount to 12 months, maybe less while being paid millions and have a booming business to come back to back home. It falls on a lot of def ears.

Phillips has the NTC so he can choose to do what he wants. If he doesn't want to leave he doesn't have to. Sports isn't like real life jobs.

It isn't and if he has a full NTC and MVC and if he decides he doesn't want to move that's completely understandable and he's earned that right. I am just saying that if he does get traded (does he have a full NTC?) then crying about family because you are away for 12 months when he's away 1/2 the damn time anyways is complete BS.

I agree with what 1200 is saying. You don't take Richards without big compensation from la. Maybe you swing a trade with them and give them something as well, but you don't just take Richards.

They would need to pay a huge portion of his salary, take back Greening, and probably give up a 1st round pick... minimum 2nd... it won't happen.

If there was anything there, I think it would have been easy to swap Greening for Richards and whatever incentive LA would add. Maybe the player is just a pariah. We already have a much better, cheaper player in Legwand and choose not to play him anyway.

I figured a trade for Richards would have to include another bad contract going to them...and then more coming back from LA. Something like Richards and Toffoli for Greening and Methot.

Legwand isn't a better player than Richards, lol.
