Also, I would like to say that it's hilarious that people poo-poo the World Jrs saying it doesn't really change how teams rate prospects, and then one guy has a good showing in one single prospects game, and he becomes the talk of the town.

The 67s had that pick, though. They have a knack for finding players that are missing just a little something to entice NHL teams so they have a better chance of keeping the player longer. In Konecny's case, size. You won't see the 67s draft a potential "phenom" even if they have the 1st overall.

LET'S DO IT!!!

I doubt Alfie wants to retire for a year and then jump back in and work more hours than he did as a player personally.

so you're telling me the 67s wouldn't have drafted McDavid? Laugh1

They won't draft based on need. They'll take the best player available.

I think he has more talent and drive than all 3 of those guys but Crouse is pretty solid and he's huge which people put a premium on.

I like Crouse a lot personally, I think he has all the makings of a big time PF in the NHL but yah, it can be a bit much to handle.

As for Konency and trading down... why even trade down? If that is 100% the player the Sens want (and I hope it is) then take him where the draft. Is a 2nd or 3rd round pick really that important? Sens haven't traded away any pics (yet) and I would think they will have more in the bank by the time the draft rolls around.

If anything, if they really like a player they should be using those pics to move up and again I think it should be Konecny based on where they will more than likely draft. Obviously if a team is insistent to jump ahead a pick or two to grab a player they want and the Sens don't then maybe make a move but other than that take the Winnipeg/Ottawa steady as she goes approach, Karlsson was a stretch, Morrisey was a stretch, Schiefle was a stretch, etc. Draft the player you like if you trust your scouts, don't worry about the other BS.

I like moving up or drafting a guy high who you like, but pretty much 80% of the time that happens, it is for a guy who rose during the season or was not widely known before the draft

Yah I am not sure about the trends of moving up or down in the draft to be honest. I think the only time you would move down is if the you like/love gets snagged and you say "f*** it".

Moving up you have to love the guy (Karlsson).

Actually, Ottawa has already traded two picks in this draft. Here is what they currently have:

1
2
2 (from Dallas)
4
5
7

They traded the 3rd rd. pick for Hemsky and the 6th to Winnipeg so they could get an extra 7th last year.

100 percent. They would sooner trade the pick for an undrafted over ager that puts up good numbers and a bunch of other picks that they would use to find the next Matt Foy or Cody Lindsay.

I'm not saying that Konecny isn't talented or that he won't be an NHLer. I just saw that he's from Mt. Brydges. Nice little town. Just sayin' that the 67s put more of a premium on Junior potential rather than pro potential.

Meant this season they have not traded any pics, wasn't clear.

Is there an organization in the CHL who has sent more players to the NHL than the 67's?  I think the top 5 are London, Kitchener, Ottawa, Regina, and Peterborough (in no particular order). If I had to guess the Sens will end up with at least 2 more picks in this draft and based on who is more than likely to be dealt I would think a 2nd and a 3rd or 4th or added to that list.

Lots of assets to play with at the draft.

Senschirp claims to have "heard" that Alfie will be back with Sens as early as the upcoming season.

We may be in for some choppy waters if Murray leaves, specially if an outside GM comes in. Cameron suddenly is on a shorter leash with the new GM likely looking for any excuse to bring in "his guy." Dorion could leave if he doesn't like the snub.

Let's all hope for some beneficial trades before any of this happens!

Cameron isn't going anywhere with the backing of the owner at this point. Other side of it is he's done a great job (small sample size, yes) so far.

As for who may come in, you have to think if it's an outside guy it's just someone for guidance and maybe a little outside perspective. A smart GM coming in knows Ottawa's scouting staff if top notch and won't touch it so I wouldn't worry there. I think Shero makes the most sense especially if he's been around the players, staff, and owner.

Lee is going to be up there... fact is he probably has a better handle on a players drive, physical commitment, and attitude vs a lot if not most of management and not just in Ottawa, in the NHL in general.  It doesn't take a genius to figure out someone scored 25 goals last year and probably deserves a raise or someone isn't producing.  It takes something special to figure out what makes guys tick and what gets the best out of them and Lee does that very well for the most part.

There are downsides to that as well, take a guy like Greening for example but for the most part a guy like Lee is a huge asset from management all the way down.

Should he be the next GM? Questionable but there's no reason he shouldn't be a GM's right hand man and learn on the job.
