If they traded Zibanejad and Lehner for Hall that IMO is an even steven deal in terms of value or close too...

Basically any deal for Hall would go down like this minimum from an Edm perspective.

Lehner (duh)
One of Lazar/Zibanejad/Stone
Draft pick depending on the value of the player above.
Probably a token D man like Wiercioch as well.

Won't happen though, Hall is a very special player and short of him asking for a trade then he won't be dealt.

So, should we trade him for Raycroft?

I just think we need to proceed with caution.

100%. There is a point where it's just not worth it to get that type of player. If you are creating holes all over just to add a big name and big player to a team then you really are not improving the team.

I think everyone can agree that moving Lehner at this point for the Sens doesn't create a short term or even a "medium" term hole in the lineup.

I think everyone can agree that moving one of Lazar or Zibanejad is a risk but these two will probably play very similar roles with very similar numbers at some point. The the cost of making this type of deal.

Now when you start adding first round picks and other players this is, like you said, where you proceed with caution. If you are giving up the said pieces above no way I touch Cowen, Ceci, or any other long term fixture on that roster. Wiercioch, sure, a guy like Price yah... that type of player. If they don't want that and insist on 1st round pick you make them take the 2016 one. Giving up the 2015 1st rounder is a very, very risky move given all that would be going the other way as stated above.

It's a deal that can be made but the benefit has to outweigh the possible downside.

I agree that would be about the ask for a player like Hall. From an Ottawa POV, I just can't see any scenario where the 1st round pick is traded before they know where they are picking.

Draft day deal including Ottawa's first round pick is possible.

Maybe for the benefits of The Edmonton Oilers' scouting staff?

Speaking of which, MacLean was spotted at the Oilers/Wild game the other night. He wasn't really fired -- he was relieved of his duties and continues to be paid so, technically, he is still employed by the Senators, just not in a head-coaching capacity.

So was this fisherman from down East just taking in a Wild game or was he scouting? And if he was scouting, then who for?

If it lands Hall is it a mistake?  I'm going to say no.

I've got this awful feeling in the pit of my stomach that it's not Hall.

Anything is possible. They might even pick up another 1st from a playoff team before the deadline and use that or make the pick conditional on where it falls in the draft order with a 2016 1st and 2015 2nd being the consolation prize. Or whatever. Doesn't matter because a deal is unlikely no matter what. It's far from impossible even if it were to happen tomorrow.

if we lose lehner and zib for eberle i'm gonna be pissed. i think Hall is the only player on their roster i'd pay a high price for. the others depreciate in value quick.

Don't think anyone is knocking down the door for Eberle or Yakupov.

towards the end of the article he goes on to state that BM isn't interested in dealing anderson until Lehner's play imporves.
could it be that we're not trading any of our goaltenders? could it all be lip service? i have to admit that i much prefer to deal a package including anderson for hall then with lehner.
obviously we're not going to get any answers any time soon i think but what the hell is going on? could be up to whoever is the next GM to decide the faith of this hockey team, maybe that's a better idea to be honest.
