Whatever, I certainly didn't dislike it as much as Transformers but these Avengers movies are just too busy for me.  On the other hand I really enjoyed both Captain America movies, and the firt Iron Man (didn't see the latest one).  I guess I prefer it when they focus on a single supe.

Anyhow, if you like playing Super Smash Bros you'll enjoy it.

P.S. The whole movie I was sitting there wondering who was the voice of Ultron.  I just *knew* that I knew who it was, recognized it almost immediately, an actor that I watch regularly, just couldn't figure it out until the credits.  The Blacklist is one of my favorite shows, how could I not recognize Spader?

Dog power!

tim1_2 wrote:That's too bad about the new Avengers movie.  I'd heard it wasn't nearly as good as the first one.  Some of these comic book movies are just silly.

I thought the Thor ones were pretty good in addition to the ones you mention, Prags.

I actually recorded Thor (first one) when it was playing on AMC or something like that, and I watched it in bits and pieces over a couple of weeks. It was pretty good but I just kept laughing at Anthony Hopkins trying to play "BIG" next to Hemsworth. I could take him as Odin when standing next to Loki, that's about it. Plus, in general, the whole idea of Norse Mythology in the Marvel superhero universe is kinda hokey.

But, yea, same thing, with just one superhero you can spend more time on story/plot and less on CGI.

Watched the pilot for Forever, a new show on ABC. Not bad.  Will set up the recording.

tim1_2 wrote:Genie plays at 4, Milos at 9.

Here we are not quite a year later, and Forever is cancelled and Genie is playing again.

Just watched the pilot (or, rather, first episode) of Wayward Pines. It's a 10-episode "Event" show (it was filmed in late 2013, so don't expect it to be picked up as a series) based on a three-part book. So far, not bad. It's exec-produced by M. Night Shamalamadindong so expect it to be weird with a twist (although he did not write it so he's kinda bound by what's in the books). Starring Matt Dillon, Juliette Lewis, Carla Gugino, Shannyn Sossamon. It's on FOX.

Also, the pilot for the new Supergirl series (premiering in September) has been leaked. It's on CBS, which is weird, since that's for old folk, right? Anyhow, I'll be recording that one for the girls.

Some other shows coming soon (sci-fi centric):
Sens8: June 4 (Netflix)
Defiance: June 12 (Space?)
Dark Matter: June 12 (Space?)
Humans: June 26 (AMC)

And, of course, X-Files, but that's not till late January.

None of those shows really interest me to be honest. It's Game of Thrones for now, and then probably watching Season 3 of The Americans. I'm also going to cancel my cable after the playoffs. What a waste of money.

As for Genie Bouchard, the poor girl has won one match since March. Hopefully she finds a way to turn it around, but you have to wonder if all the money she made cooled off her desire to work hard.

As for Milos, he's still our best Canadian shot at a tennis major.

Pospisil and Bouchard both out in the first round.

I downloaded Popcorn Time and it sends from my PC to my crappy old Western Digital media box that was becoming useless. The urge to buy an Android media box has subsided now.

What's an Android Media Box? A tablet (or smartphone) and a Smart TV with DLNA will do. And if your TV isn't smart enough, a ChromeCast dongle will do just as well.

I prefer the smart tv option, since you don't have to fiddle with inputs -- it just sends it to the TV and the TV is smart enough to display it. No matter what it's doing currently. Even if the kids are watching Pokemon reruns they recorded earlier, or are on HDMI-4 using the PS3 for Netflix (why can't they just use the built-in Netflix app on the smart tv?). I just click on which renderer I want to use and select the smart tv. And the kids go "Hey, what happened to Pokemon!" And I just giggle quietly.

I dont have a smart TV and I dont plan to afford one any time soon. So to recap, I just resurrected a crappy old media player with the help of Popcorn Time.

Different devices have different Netflix apps so it might be preference I prefer the PS3 one to the one on my BluRay player, for instance.

I dunno what Popcorn Time is (media server software for your PC?), but I run Plex media server and it works great for sending whatever to my Western Digital Hub or my Roku. It's awesome because it'll transcode whatever media format you want to a playable one on the fly.

What I use is part of Windows, I guess. Popcorn Time streams torrents basically, instead of dowloading then playing. It has a Netflix-like setup which is easy to use.

Its not fancy at all. The extent of what I understand about it is I set up network sharing on Windows, I downloaded this Popcorn Time and it plays movies on my TV for free!

WP Rager got me thinking about the android box thing and theres an Android Emulator for Windows so I can have these media box apps on my PC. ShowBox seems to be the one the kids like.

Popcorn Time is available on the Google Play Store (i.e. for Android). But it doesn't play torrent files without dowloading them first. It streams content from some servers. Right now they say they have 700 movies to chose fro without any subscription. So I'll just go ahead and assume selection is very limited. Then you can probably subscribe to a premium service for more content.

Netflix will let you try everything for 2 weeks for free. After 2 weeks if you are cheap you can probably just get another e-mail and do another 2 weeks for free.

One more new show for the hopper. Mr. Robot, on USA Network (not sure, do we get that here?) will be premiering on June 24th. It's been shown at two movie festivals and won the Audience Award at one of them. Full pilot is apparently available online. Here's the extended trailer:

The lead has been in a few things -- I remember him as the miniature Pharaoh from the Night at the Museum movies.
