I've been saying this for months. Spezza to Colorado.

Everybody agrees with me, sooner or later.

I don't see it, they have MacKinnon and O'Rielly(whom they publicly want to resign). Supposedly they have an offer ready for Stastny as well.

Rangers make more sense, since they tried and failed to get Kesler.

Publicly... yes.  They can't offer him a long term deal at what he is making now, that's the point.  MacKinnon will be making 7 mil plus when his contract is up along with Duchene and Landeskog... that's 20 mil right there. No way they have 4 forwards signed at 27-30 million total, they need other players.

I think the MacKinnon estimate might be conservative to be honest. Kid's a star already.

Exactly. So lets assume for a second the Avs resign O'Reilly. Between O'Reilly, Duchene, and MacKinnon... that's 6, 7 mil (conservative), and 6.5 mil all signed for 5 years or more. Whoever the hell is playing 4th line center in that time will be making a mil. That's over 20 mil just at center and signed long term.

O'Reilly isn't going to sign another 2 years deal.
