No one even talks about the kid, which is odd. If he were a 2nd round pick, people would be fawning over him.

He led his team at UConn in scoring both his seasons there (set a new school record for rookie scoring), then was 4th in scoring at Bingo in his first year, 3rd in his second year and led the team in goals last year. Yet, here he is, on his last contract year (is he UFA at the end?) without a single NHL call up. At 6'2" and a willingness to go to the dirty areas I'm wondering if we need some of his jam more than we need the likes of Prince or Puempel.

I don't care if he feels he needs to watch the game from the bleachers, he needs to play - and by all accounts, he's played well. Scratch him for who? The list isn't very long of guys you can sub in anyway.

That would make more sense, but people on Bingo forums were saying he was a healthy scratch most recently.

I'm wondering how it could hurt to see him for a game instead of Prince? Even if you just scratch Prince for a game or two, or scratch someone else, how could it hurt the organization to try Schneider for a game or two?
There's always this kind of odd hierarchy involved in pro sports - and Ottawa does it all the time. Granted, Schneider is 25 or whatever, but if he was a 2nd round pick, people would be dancing about how he can go to the net, how he scored 29 goals last year, how he's on pace for ~40 etc., but no...he's an unheralded college UFA signing, so he won't see any time I bet.
I understand Ottawa wanting to see what Prince and Puempel have to offer, but I don't understand why they can't see them in spurts of 2 or 3 games and sprinkle in a couple of other call ups in the meantime. What are they afraid of? No offense? Well, I have news...between Puempel and Prince they have, what, one goal?

If a guy needs to be scratched because he's not doing things "the right way", then they get scratched. No one is entitled to play every game. If Luke Richardson thinks a guy needs to be healthy scratched, that's good enough for me. The worst lesson to teach these kids would be that they get to play all the time regardless of their effort.

Apparently thst wasn't the case, but I'll trust Richardson that there was a means to an end.
