EDIT: Although I should have said thanks for posting that, I'm trying to get up to speed with the draft.

What do you mean big if?

You think they're trading that pick?

Lehner has the pedigree, he's won a championship in the organization already, he's young, he's under control, he has stunning competitiveness, he's cool.

Trading him would be a mistake. Rather just go with our roster than make a move involving him or Silfverberg. Other guys...maybe, those 2...no.

That said...look out, if Alfie comes back (which he will IMO), Murray might try to hit a couple of huge home runs via trade or UFA to land a couple of game breakers to try to win next year (which would still be damn cool).

There's a bit of a contradiction here. If they swing for the fences in a trade, they're probably trading people that we assign a lot of value to. Two of those guys are Lehner and Silf.

I'm not suggesting that they will. I'm just pointing out that it's kind of funny to say that BM might swing for the fences in a big trade but won't trade our best prospects. If he's making a massive splash, he's probably trading someone that we think is going to be big.

Also, I too will be enraged if Penner is a Sen next year. In other news, you have a typo in your sig. Drop the "s" in Senators, or, alternately, change it to "Sen" Smile

I'm not saying I think it's a done deal or anything, but I think Murray explores the trade market for either a young D-man, or an established scoring winger dangling that pick + Foligno/Da Costa/Puempel etc.

I think there's a 70-30 chance we draft in that position, but nothing's set in stone obviously.

Then no deal. I assume we'll dangle the 1st, Puempel, Wiercioch, Da Costa, Butler (ha ha) and maybe Foligno, but Silf and Lehner are out of the question (IMO), so if there's no deal that can be done without those two, we just go with what we have or sign Fat Penner.

Silf is a HUGE piece going forward, you don't trade that IMO. You trade Z-Bad before Silf (not that I advocate that either) - and Lehner's a 20 year old future franchise goalie, you don't trade that either IMO.

Exactly -- I think Lehner is the better goalie.. and has that fire that Bishop does not appear to have. Had more success in his 1st full season in the AHL more than Bishop did in his 5.

In the 1st round last season -- he won 3 straight OT games.. stopping a penalty shot in one of those OT's...

They drafted Lehner.. they traded for Bishop after the Anderson injury.. knowing that Auld could not handle the net.. and Lehner had been dealing with injuries.

Personally I think they trade Bishop... what does Shawn Simpson know... he's only guessing... Besides Bishop is more NHL ready... Lehner will serve as a good backup for Anderson and be ready for #1 after Anderson's contract is up. This is the year to draft a goaltender as well...

Murray just said he'll be shopping on July 1 to speed up the process of getting better.

SensChirp tweeted that he thought that meant a defensive D-man and a scoring forward, but not sure if that's his guess or Murray said that.

It has also been rumoured that Murray is going after Rick Nash... believe that when I see it... but who knows. It would cost the Sens 1st round pick this year... Ben Bishop... and what else? Question is.. would Nash waive to come to Ottawa. It was rumoured he would go to Toronto.. but who has a better chance of being the better team faster... or even now...

As long as it is not Penner.... or anyone over 30...

Why would Columbus want Bishop unless he's signed to an extension first? Then maybe Bishop + 1st + top prospect for Nash....really depends on what that top prospect is. Would you pay Bishop + Zibanejad + 1st? Not sure...

Yup. Here are some notable tweets from Ian Mendes:

Peter Regin says his shoulder is better. As for free agent status: "I hope we can get something done so I can come back here."

Carkner says he could have done something "drastic" to his knee to play Game 7. But he probably wouldn't have been able to play next series.

Don't expect a decision on Alfredsson's future before middle of May. If he plays for Sweden at Worlds, that delays decision even more.

Winchester confirms he dealt with concussion symptoms in Game 4 -- and that's why he left series. Doesn't know how/when it happened.

Why does that make me think of Holy Grail? "I'm getting better ... I feel fine ... I think I'll go for a walk."

I think Regin's time here is done. Awful time to get injured and re-injured, just after the Calder Cup in Bingo and the rebuild in Ottawa -- all those draft picks and AHL grads looking for a place to play.

It's not a typo, it's a direct quote.
