Just to play Devil's Avocado here, Lars Jonsson, drafted 7th overall by Boston in 2000, signed as a UFA by Philly after Boston failed to sign him under the old CBA, and alternated his first pro year between the Flyers and Phantoms.
Also, since 1992, there have only been 13 Swedes drafted in the top 10:
'93: Niklas Sundstrom
'99: H. Sedin, D. Sedin
2000: Lars Jonsson
'06: Nicklas Backstrom
'10: Hedman, Ekman-Larsson, Paajarvi-Svensson
'11: Landeskog, Larsson, Zibanejad, Brodin
'12: Lindholm
There was the same # of Swedes selected in the top 10 in 2011 alone than in the entire decade+ from 1992-2006.
