Jessimen, Benoit, and Eckford, they will all produce at some level and can really lead that team. Benoit will probably be named captain if I had to guess. Vets make a very good living in the AHL and that shouldn't be over looked.

The other thing is vets coming into the organization on 2 way deals KNOW they play well and they will get a chance at some point in the NHL. This will only continue to improve things from top to bottom in the organization.

Especially when their AHL salary is $300K. Nod

Exactly. I don't feel sorry for vets signing in the AHL, they make more than 99% of the people in NA anyways. It's a good living and they are playing a game at the end of the day. The organization also makes these guys feel important because in the end they really are.

Absolutely. I understand feeling bad for them though. They spend their lives trying to make the NHL and fall short. That's sad in a way.

Love that Eckford signing. He can move the puck, he'll be really steady back there. Add in Benoit and that team will have an excellent mix of defensive D-men and offensive D-men with Wideman, Claesson, Blood, Gryba and Wiercioch in the mix. Better work hard down there for Richardson, or you'll be in the press box or in Elmira, that's a pretty competitive blue line now.

I like that you inserted BoroCop in the NHL roster for your discussion of the AHL blue line.

Don't think he'll be playing in the AHL if that's what you mean. Is that what you meant lol?

Not saying he won't make but I don't think he does. The AHL is an option for him and the best one in terms of where he wants to be and where the team wants him to be because the Swedish 2nd league is garbage and any Swede would take the AHL and being closer to the NHL than ever playing in their 2nd league.

Also, no chance in hell JOB is on a two way deal. 0% chance and that's being generous. He's on the team because he decided to man up, work hard, and become a player. He has. JOB is an NHL player and IMO will be a pretty good one.

So what's Murray to do with all the one-ways? He has to make some trades, right?

Not right now I don't think.

Greening - Z.Smith - Neil
Regin - O'Brien - Condra
extras: Butler, Daugavins (one of these has to go I guess)

14

Methot - Karlsson
Cowen - Gonchar
Phillips - Lundin
Boroweicki

7

Anderson
Bishop

2

He's in Ottawa to start the year barring some unforeseen injury.

Lots of options going forward. DOn't think it's out of the question that they carry 23 players either. 14 forwards and 7 D is how they will start the season IMO. I also think they let Daugavins walk as well.

I agree with what you're saying that he won't get assigned to Binghamton, but he would not hate it and would not be opposed to going to the AHL. He has already stated such, so has Silfverberg, etc. They will do whatever the team asks of them. Sure for guys from Stockholm it's a bit of a drag living in Binghamton, but for other guys from small Swedish towns, it's not that big of a deal.

I've said before that I could see him never playing Binghamton as it's very, very rare for a top Swedish pick to play in the AHL. It's usually straight to the NHL for them.

Unless they happen backstop their team to the Calder Cup as a rookie, winning the MVP award while doing it as a teenager. Then you get to stay another two years.

Lehner's not a high pick Swede. And he's a goalie.

I'm talking Top 10 picks.

Me too. The bottom six is becoming a bit of a logjam, especially if that's where a ZBad or a Stone starts out.

Been saying this for a while. Forget about one-ways versus two-ways, they are at exactly 50 contracts, with the following RFAs left to sign:

O'Brien (he *will* get a contract)
Daugavins (he's filed for arbitration, they may be stuck with him whether they like it or not)
Gryba (the only right-handed D-man in the organization who is anywhere close to ready)
DaCosta

And I'm ignoring Filatov; he's an RFA but he's not getting a contract.

There will be moves.

You never said that. We were discussing Sens prospects. Zibanejad is the only one who is top-10.

If he wins. What if he loses? Can they walk away if *they* win arbitration?

Yes, yes I did. I am referring to all Swedes drafted to the NHL. Name one who has been picked Top 10 and didn't start in the NHL after playing in Sweden. Don't think you can.

I don't even understand what you just said. Were you talking only about top-10 picked Swedes or about all drafted Swedes?
