2012 All-Star Game

I also think they did a better job of not making that "last guy moment" so awkward. Last year, when they left Phil all alone in that chair... that was brutal, as much as I loved it, it was still pretty brutal.

Having the last four come out on stage at the end last night was better.

Nah, I think it was good and I loved watching Lupul squirm. They were good. Reminded people about the rivalry and how crazy it was at one point. We're getting back there slowly. Funny how there were no Leafs on Alfie's team and no Canuck's on Chara's team... the lines certainly are drawn. Adds a little something to play for in the game possibly? Maybe the game will actually be interesting.

That's what I thought, too, even if it was the obvious way to go.

P.S. Chara calls out Gaborik's name (accent on the 'bo' syllable) and then immediately after the announcer insists on using the North American (a.k.a. "wrong") pronunciation with the accent on the "Ga". Would have loved it if Big Z had followed up saying, "No, I meant Gaborik" and then glared menacingly at the camera.

I knew someone would complain about the booing and chants. That was the best part. Not classless at all, the whole thing is for the fans...the players do a pretty good job of keeping the whole thing pretty boring, so it was nice to see the fans inject some life into the draft.

I think Chara's team has the edge for the game, but it's impossible to say, since no one gives it 100% anyways.

That D that Chara picked is horrible, for an All Star game. If it doesn't come down to goaltending, I think Team Alfie will win handily.

It was quite funny to see Lupul pick Price.

Alfie's speech when drafting Pominville was pretty good too. "This guy embarassed me pretty good in the playoffs one year..."

I had been trying to block that from my memory.

big +1 on that. It was funny the first few times, but after a while it disrupted flow of the event. What's with everyone getting their pictures taken with celebs/mastcots and you can't even put your Timmies cup down to get it out of the shot?

Does anyone have a good, high-res picture of Chara when he was a Sen? I'm going to Fan Fair tonight, and Chara will be signing stuff while I'm there. I wanted to get a pic of him rag-dolling McCabe, but I can't find a decent one on-line. Any help is appreciated.

Im going to the fan fest too, have no idea whats going on there. Leaving from school around 230 or so.

I like Team Alfie. I give them the edge in goaltending and Defence. Before picking Letang he said "we're gonna be flying out there". I dislike Letang, but I guess its better to have him on Spezza's team instead of hitting him from behind.

Weber's gonna challenge Chara for the slapshot, I hope. I give the edge to Chara's team for the shootout (Datsyuk, Malkin, Eberle).

With Karlsson, Michalek and Letang they Team Alfie's got a good shot at the speed contest.

And I like the chemistry that he built. Four Senators, 3 Canucks, 2 Rangers (+ coach), and I'm probably missing some too.

I thought both Alfie and Chara were very classy. Miss seeing them together. The media tried to get them to take jabs but they were too classy for that.

It was funny when GaBOrik (for you. Wally) walked over to Team Alfie's side after being picked right as Alfie was about to make his pick, then stopped to look at him, and The King burst out laughing.

The draft, all in all, was much better than I expected.

When's the Young Stars game? Before the skills comp? I assume that's still a thing that happens?
