2011 World Championship Discussion

He was just one of those whacko Ruskies that ran back to Russia as soon as things didn't go his way. I don't know how much money he makes, but it's probably more than he would've made in the AHL when Ottawa demoted him.

Meh...people are free to make their choices, I suppose. And if you grew up in Russia, I guess you're used to living there anyway. I can't say I ever blame someone for returning to their homeland. God knows if I lived in a different country, I would be homesick for Canada.

At least it's the least-important tourney. Which is why the Russians are good at it..heehee.

Russia is apparently pressing hard for Datsyuk to come play for them..

I was 12. Spent the summers at our dacha with my dad (he was an artist, mostly doing children's books illustrations) while my mom worked in the city; we'd see her on weekends. Spent the days picking mushrooms, climbing trees, fishing, swimming, climbing trees, picking berries. Plus way out in the country we could pick up BBC Radio (signal would be jammed in the city). Back in the city, I lived literally across the street from the American Embassy, so I got to play with the American kids quite a bit. Invited a couple of them over to our apartment one time. Later was politely told by the building attendant to never do that again (apparently he had a little talk with some men in trench coats while we were upstairs).

It wasn't depressing at all for a 12 year old.
