Now, if Pittsburgh had signed the same deal, it would be ... well all that ... DancingBanana

Quality post bub...pretty tired of hearing that I'm a Penguins fan when I clearly am not.

You're a Penguins fan? I guess you have something in common with The Name Dropper.

I wouldn't call this a steal, but it's good value for the money and the lack of a NTC/NMC gives Murray or whoever options.

All in all, a good deal that we needed to make.

Now, we need to shore up our backup goalie situation next year... Mac 'n Cheese on a 1-year deal while Lehner gets a boatload of starts in Bingo next year?

Or are we jonesin' for Lehner to be up with Anderson?

Lehner should play in the AHL next year. We can sign one of 20 decent backups who will be on the market.

I'm certainly not. Unfortunately, Lehner basically lost a year. He'll now need about 2 full seasons in the AHL before he's ready. No need to rush him.

Therefore, it would be nice to have a good backup for 2 seasons. If Lehner ends up being too good to leave in the AHL, it should be easy enough to simply waive the backup.

Lehner needs to full years in Bingo as #1, hopefully leading the B-Sens to the playoffs.

One year as backup in the NHL to get used to the NHL.

Steal the job from Anderson in the 4th year.

That's how it should go.

Draft RNH in June and the rebuild will start off great!

He might even benefit from 2 years in the AHL, third year he's backup to Anderson, the 4th year he might challenge for Anderson's spot.

EDIT: That might have been what you meant actually.

A Cussing steal!

Not really a steal...he doesn't deserve more than that. Just a good amount.

I think he could have gotten up to 3.75 on a 3 year deal - maybe 4 on a 3, but that would be pushing it a little. So, I think the fact that we got a 4th year for 2 million bucks extra than we were gonna pay in the first place (my guess was always 3.5 X 3) = steal. He's a solid guy too, the last time he was sub .917 was 2005 and that year was also the last time he was sub .900 - including this year where he was awful for the Avs and has still managed to get his % up to .908.

Those numbers mean a lot, the GAA doesn't mean anything to me, the save % means everything - and this is a guy who will keep you in games based on statistics alone. I suppose a 'steal' would have been 2.5, but this is in the realm, add in there that there's no NTC/NMC and you have an excellent contract IMO. Excellent. And to think that some people around are complaining about it - it's embarrassing sometimes to listen to the callers to 1200 and hear these tools try to convey their hockey 'knowledge'.

When does Sens Chirp ever disagree with a Sens move?

I agree with this signing though.

I think he would have gotten more money on a shorter term on July 1st.

The best news is he WANTS to be here and whatever Murray told him and his agent told him about the teams' plans must have been impressive enough.

It's not like we had to throw suitcases of money at him to get him to agree.

And no NTC/NMC ? Not to mention all we had to give up was Elliott who may not even be in the NHL next year ?

Win, win, win.

The interview with Anderson just shows how much he wants to play here. I am very happy with this deal.... And No I am not going to change my username again. Though Donkey-Kickin' Anderson has a nice ring to it. Nod Dancing
