Roche, sorry, but that Bryan Bork Bork Bork was just too funny.

Thanks for clearing things up. So a player with a career ending injury who signed his contract at 35+ better not retire, if he wants what's good for the team. What a weird little work they built for themselves.

Yeah, retiring is bad in that instance.

Yeah, retiring hurts the team for sure for those 35+ contracts.

The NHL isn't very diligent when it comes to forcing retirement on players that aren't doing everything they can to rehabilitate in an effort to get back on the ice. Therefore, it is a pretty convenient loophole for Clubs to take advantage of and relieve some cap constraints.

The Flyers are no strangers to it; they kept Mike Rathje on LTIR for 3 seasons as well as the current Laperriere example I already gave.

I expect the NHL to try an attempt closing that ambiguity within the LTIR rules in the next CBA.

Also, I have been trying to locate the Mike Fisher contract thread for about 3 hours now and I can't find it.

Does anyone know where it is? I have some info to add that will clear up any remaining confusion; mostly due to my previous understanding of it.

I just put "mike fisher" in the search bar, et voila:

Habs' Gill: 'You're an a**hole, P.K.'

http://slam.canoe.ca/Slam/Hockey/NHL/2011/02/08/17202236.html

Tension between Subban and veteran blueliner Hal Gill appeared to surface Tuesday after the rookie scattered his equipment around the dressing room, which gave the impression he was treating the equipment staff like servants.

Noticing what was happening, Gill picked up Subban's jersey and handed it back to him, saying, "You're an a--hole, P.K."

Seeing the surprised looks on the faces of reporters around him, Gill added, "And you can write that."

Stunned by his teammate's reaction, Subban began to apologize, though it appeared to be too little, too late for Gill.

"As my dad said, your excuses aren't going to get the lawn mowed any better," Gill shot back.

I'm speechless. Wow.

I'm not surprised at the attitude toward PK but I am surprised Gill let it slip out into the media. The team, in past situations, tried to make it appear as though it was just a situation where if he was on your team you'd love him but if not then you hate him. Clearly PK is a little too cocky and feels he's more of a big shot than he is. It's not entirely his fault since he's become a media darling and his skills have been overblown. He's probably constantly gushed over and told he's awesome so it's hard to stay grounded with that, the money he makes, his already out going attitude and personality and his relatively young age.

Read the rest of the article. Not very long, quite interesting.

Roche, wouldn't mind hearing your take on it, too.

Should Ottawa be concerned that the Islanders may sign Barry Brust to an NHL contract?

No. Get him out of here. He's messing with Lehner's development.

Would leave Ottawa with some voids to fill though. Leclaire is injured, Elliott would be the only goalie in the NHL, Lehner would have to go to the AHL, and Brodeur would either have to play in the N or the A. Sens would have to sign or call up a goalie from a lower league.

Why not sign him for the rest of the year then, just to protect your property?
