Probably too high. He's got a lot of skill, but has never really put it all together I think. I'd much rather draft and develop our own guys.

He's on pace for his 2nd 50+ point season in a row. Works for me.

We need to focus on a top line player to compliment the one guy we've got now. So either we trade for one, or draft one and develop him. I don't see how Voracek makes this team any better.

Melnyk is on record as saying he wants a "game changer", and Voracek most certainly is not that.

He could end up being one, and he would be our best winger as far as I'm concerned. Columbus is known to have a brutal development system, plus they don't play a very exciting style.

IMO, we only have 3 legitimate Top 6 forwards at the most. I don't think it would hurt to add someone who is only 2nd line material if the price is right.

No it wouldn't I don't believe. It all comes down to price I suppose. If you can get a 1st for Fisher as opposed to Voracek for Fisher for example, I'd prefer the first (depending on who it's from).

He is a game-changer, he's only 22 and he's already changing games on his own.

Fisher, weircioch, 2012 first and 2nd for zack parise. Overpayment or not enough? Off season trade though

No, no. Parise would be 1st round pick THIS YEAR + Rundblad + Michalek. And if you don't like that price, Lou would tell you to kiss his arse.

I don't know enough about him, but could RNH turn into a Parise-esque player? Not in style, but in ability? If so, that's way too much.

Actually, on second thought, who cares...that price is too high by a lot. Yes, Parise is a game changer, but a blue chip prospect that projects to be a top-2 d-man, a top-6 winger and a top-3 or -4 pick is WAY too much.

RNH? Probably more like Duchene from what I've read. And yeah, that price is high, but that's life. If you want to poach him it'd take a 7 X 7 - which is 4 first round picks, so Jersey is 100% in the driver's seat.

Meh, I don't think that highly of him I suppose. To each his own.

I agree. Lou is absolutely in the driver's seat. I say let him drive away if that's the ask though. There's no way we give them their second top-5 pick this year. None.

I don't think they'll be in the top 5 when it's all said and done. They are playing a lot better brand of hockey these days. Here's some food for thought though: If we arrive at our pick and Larsson is still on the board, Jersey might make a move for him. Do you move that pick and say a smaller piece for Parise at that point? NJ needs Larsson in a bad way.

He's really starting to explode as a player right now, if you have a chance, watch the BJs and him specifically. He's come a long way IMO.

Haha. In that scenario, we're in the driver's seat. Good point Hemmy.

If they would do that we would be making out like bandits. They need smoe help on D but not at the expense of Parise.

I'd say they need more than help. Unless you define help as an overhaul.

Well, like I said, they could REALLY use Larsson. They've got noone resembling a franchise defenceman, and probably noone who projects to be anywhere as good as Larsson will be.

Granted it will take more than Larsson, but he'd be a great start. A guy like Parise is the only way I'd even consider trading our lottery pick though.

Yes, exactly what I was coming on here to post. The driver's seat could easily change by draft day if the Devils have the 8th overall and they want Larsson very, very badly.

Just going through Twitter and posting some speculative rumours:

http://spectorshockey.net/2011/02/nhl-rumors-february-6-2011/

- Edmonton Journal (Jim Matheson)- Omark to NAS for Blum; Hemsky to NAS for Ellis + 1st

- Tampa looking for a Defenceman, but Yzerman has stated he will not move his first three picks (1st, 2nd and 3rd).

- Blue Jackets look to be selling as they will not negotiate with any of their UFAs.

- Nashville wants to buy some offense

Spector I don't like at all, but those are very intriguing rumours.
