I think he would. It's kind of out of the spotlight a bit and if they choke, it's Marleau, Thornton, Boyle and Heatley who are at fault, MUCH less Phillips IMO. He an sort of fade into the woodwork and sign somewhere else on July 1.

Kaberle won't waive for California apparently - which is great news for us.

Should we laud Jurke for his patience, "National" media style?

What a total dip$hit. Laugh1

as long as the return is better than the heatley deal, chirp is saying is coming today or tomorrow.

I'm thinking the return will be McGinn.

am so out of touch, am assuming that would be something to get excited about, haven't watched any hockey this year, post christmas, its been playing madden 11 on my ps3.

Can't see Phillips going west. My bet is Campoli is gone this month.

It's a good thing, but nothing to get overly excited about IMO. He plays about 11 minutes a night in SJ, has 6 points total this year, but is generally well regarded as a possible breakout player soon. It's not ideal in that he's a slam-dunk, but it's a decent return for Phillips. Would like to see a 3rd roundner in there as well though.

I would in all honesty trade any of our roster d-men, with the exception of Karlsson (unless of course the return was Doughty, which is obviously not happening Razz) But seriously... Gonchar, Phillips, Kuba (lol).... and Campoli if we get something worthwhile, otherwise he's young, good and affordable.

Oh and about Phillips, it is true that a lot of teams feel he is a bottom 4 defenceman, even a bottom pairing 5/6 guy on a good team... that should speak volumes. A lot of factors have had a negative effect on his game.

ugh, dang, more poop then, I know this is the cap era, but am eager for some big time action here at this deadline since the team is crapping the bed so efficiently. I hope carrie doesn't get traded though.

Lee Versage would disagree.

Well, McGinn was ahead of Couture not too long ago, and look at the breakout season he is having. McGinn is also a Winger, and looking at SJ, kind of hard when you have Heatley, Marleau, Clowe, Setoguchi, etc etc.

Off topic a bit but, has Phillips been traded yet? Wink

Kind of like the dilemma we have in the middle here in Ottawa.

It's kind of funny, but the more buzz about a trade there is, the less likely I feel one will happen.

Yes, similar. When you have Fisher who is better suited as a 3rd line forward, getting paid like a 1st/2nd line one, it makes things tough. And when you have Spezza, Regin, Kelly and Smith, you end up trying to move C's to Wings. And We also have a problem with forcing guys to play the off wing.

I'll just post the link but this Kevin Allen article is Sens-heavy. Enjoy:

They may have rushed him then. Maybe it's worth a shot.

It could also be Setoguch I guess, but that's much more unlikely.
