Absolutely. Now's the posturing before we get into it big time around Valentine's Day. Looks like the first volley was Wheeler for Phillips. Now comes the counter of Wheeler + 3rd - 2nd if he re-signs with the Bs. Or someone completely different than Wheeler, but it's a perfect fit. I can really see it happening, people should get used to the idea.

Easy to get carried away when Wheels Wheeler is possibly on his way to Ottawa as well as The Peedge.

Dreger managed to get a price on Fisher - whether that's accurate or not, it certainly sounds like Murray's taking calls on him - and not being totally quiet about it.

Right. And it seems a little insane to expect a 1st plus a prospect. If someone asks about Fisher you don't respond with "here are my demands", you simply say "I'm listening..." and get what you can (within reason) and enjoy the cap space and start to develop your Centers for a change.

Well Murray's just posturing, right? He's not coming out and saying, Fisher sucks, we'll take a 6th and a cap dump! I think there's a deal to be had revolving around a forward prospect/young player - like Vorachek for example. There's a nice deal there meow that I think about it.

Fisher, Wiercioch, Campoli, 2nd in 2012 for Vorachek, Klesla.

Let see...Fisher cancels out Klesla, then Wiercioch, Campoli and the 2nd cancels out Vorachek?

Tyu bad CBJ aren't stupid enough to deal Tyutin. Dancing

If you deal Fisher to Columbus you need to send Neil and Kelly so Vermette can have his old linemates back.

And asking Krejci for Phillips? Trade Bonanza 2011! Speculation, Rumours, the Works! - Page 47 62136

nope on both fronts...

My point is that trading Phillips for Wheeler is stupid. We have no spot for him and he's an RFA making 2.2 million...useless and stupid to do for this team.

If they want Phillips I'd say Krejci and what? When they laugh then you can start the conversation with a 1st rounder. Please don't tell me you honestly believe Murray would sit and think, well I don't think they would do Krejci for Phillips or even a 1st, so I'll play it safe and ask for a 3rd.

As everyone knows, you start high and they low ball, then eventually if they want him bad enough and you're willing to trade him you'll find a price. Wheeler is the lowest of the low ball offers I'd accept without hanging up and refusing to hear from him again.

Plus if GM's didn't act this way, how else would Luongo have ended up in Vancouver.....

Enough said.

If we are to package the fish and weircioch in a trade...why not try to get parise?

Fisher, weircioch, 2012 first and 2nd for zack parise. Overpayment or not enough? Off season trade though

Not enough IMO. You gotta pay big time for him, like Fisher, Rundblad/Karlsson, 2011 1st round.

EDIT: Not Karlsson, that's too much, the lesser known commodity, Rundblad I guess.

He's RFA this year. That's too much, IMO. Top-3 or 4 pick (to go with their 1st or 2nd overall) a consistent 20 goal scorer and our all-star a blue chip prospect? Nope.

Agreed. He's finally returning to form. I want to see what he can do next year.

I wonder what the price would be on Voracek out of Columbus. Too high?

Probably too high. He's got a lot of skill, but has never really put it all together I think. I'd much rather draft and develop our own guys.

He's on pace for his 2nd 50+ point season in a row. Works for me.

I don't think it's enough. Fisher's value is and always will be higher to the Senators than any other team, especially in an off-season move. Fisher's value will always be highest at the deadline, when playoff hopefuls are looking for exactly that type of player, and at a discounted price (because we are 75% through the season at that point).

Wiercioch hasn't done anything of note in Bingo this year. If anything, his stock has declined since leaving NCAA. Picks for following years are a crapshoot, unless you are the Islanders.

If Lou trades his franchise player, he would have to be getting back something tangible to sell to that fanbase immediately, regardless of Parise's impending RFA status or not.

My 2 cents anyway....

We need to focus on a top line player to compliment the one guy we've got now. So either we trade for one, or draft one and develop him. I don't see how Voracek makes this team any better.

Melnyk is on record as saying he wants a "game changer", and Voracek most certainly is not that.

IMO, we only have 3 legitimate Top 6 forwards at the most. I don't think it would hurt to add someone who is only 2nd line material if the price is right.

He could end up being one, and he would be our best winger as far as I'm concerned. Columbus is known to have a brutal development system, plus they don't play a very exciting style.

No it wouldn't I don't believe. It all comes down to price I suppose. If you can get a 1st for Fisher as opposed to Voracek for Fisher for example, I'd prefer the first (depending on who it's from).

He is a game-changer, he's only 22 and he's already changing games on his own.
