I'm not willing to give up Phillips and Rundblad right now, so no to Krejci.

Couldn't agree more...

I have no interest in trading for an RFA unless he's a knock down guaranteed stud....

Wheeler currently makes 2.2 million so I'd expect that he gets an offer of at least 3 million a year...

really do we need another 40 point a year guy? Well by another I mean during a regular season where not everyone is having a down year. We have a plethora of guys who should be in the 25-40 point range and adding another in Wheeler doesn't appeal to me.

Yeah, we need top-6 and barring that I would rather a prospect and a pick. If we have to harbour a salary until the end of the season to get that, fine. Wheeler... meh. I would rather we take a risk on an unknown commodity in a second rounder. Wheeler takes up space that could go to guys doing a decent job in that role on the current roster - Kelly, Smith, Winchester, etc.

Wheeler's a 24 year old, 20 goal guy who's 6'5" or whatever he is. He isn't the most physical of 6'5" guys, but he's no Kuba. This is a nice, young, controllable (RFA) player who's likely to get a slight decrease in salary to ~2 million X 3 ish years. I wouldn't say he'd be a total steal, but he'd be a solid piece to add, a young, huge, goal-scoring power forward.

If we move Michalek and the return isn't at least a 1st, or the equivalent, I'll be really upset.

Put it this way. We get a 2nd back for Fisher, we draft NPH. NPH gets converted to a winger or plays on the 3rd line to "learn the pro game". We get a 1st for Michalek from a "buyer" ie. a 20th to 30th pick, NPH takes the 2nd line spot.

Also, and I know it's probably bull, but seeing how reluctant Ottawa is to deal Fisher and seemingly open to dealing Michalek is sickening to me. Laugh1

Whats ridiculous to me is that we'll be trying(in vain) to find a winger like michalek this summer. If the rumours of fisher to LA are true, then there's loads to be done there!

Yeah....I agree with you there. Both have glaring similarities though, they're both so friggin' sreaky, but michalek is a tad faster and has the ability to score shorthanded. Its time to let the fish swim somewhere else...

I think we'll be trying to get a sniper, we certainly don't need another Michalek unless it's literally dumped in our laps, like Wheeler for example.

Dreger managed to get a price on Fisher - whether that's accurate or not, it certainly sounds like Murray's taking calls on him - and not being totally quiet about it.

Guys, you gotta hold your horses; it's still early (the pressure will intensify as we get closer to the trade deadline the dominoes will start falling into place soon ...

Right. And it seems a little insane to expect a 1st plus a prospect. If someone asks about Fisher you don't respond with "here are my demands", you simply say "I'm listening..." and get what you can (within reason) and enjoy the cap space and start to develop your Centers for a change.

Absolutely. Now's the posturing before we get into it big time around Valentine's Day. Looks like the first volley was Wheeler for Phillips. Now comes the counter of Wheeler + 3rd - 2nd if he re-signs with the Bs. Or someone completely different than Wheeler, but it's a perfect fit. I can really see it happening, people should get used to the idea.

Easy to get carried away when Wheels Wheeler is possibly on his way to Ottawa as well as The Peedge.

Well Murray's just posturing, right? He's not coming out and saying, Fisher sucks, we'll take a 6th and a cap dump! I think there's a deal to be had revolving around a forward prospect/young player - like Vorachek for example. There's a nice deal there meow that I think about it.

Fisher, Wiercioch, Campoli, 2nd in 2012 for Vorachek, Klesla.

Let see...Fisher cancels out Klesla, then Wiercioch, Campoli and the 2nd cancels out Vorachek?
