And a quick rumour of note that was sent to me this afternoon. Boston appears to be the team pushing hardest for Chris Phillips right now and apparently the Sens have an interest in Blake Wheeler.

Couldn't agree more...
I have no interest in trading for an RFA unless he's a knock down guaranteed stud....
Wheeler currently makes 2.2 million so I'd expect that he gets an offer of at least 3 million a year...
really do we need another 40 point a year guy? Well by another I mean during a regular season where not everyone is having a down year. We have a plethora of guys who should be in the 25-40 point range and adding another in Wheeler doesn't appeal to me.
Michallica wrote:wheeler just sounds like a salary dump....why are we trading salary for salary and not receiving anything else? might as well keep phillips then.

It says that Ottawa is actually interested in Wheeler. Either way, I would like to see the following:
Phillips for
TOR 1st
BOS 1st
Spooner
Lucic
Rask
Do it Murray!!!

It reminds me of the not too distant past of when Murray was kicking the tires on trading for PJ Axelsson. Meh...

Yeah, we need top-6 and barring that I would rather a prospect and a pick. If we have to harbour a salary until the end of the season to get that, fine. Wheeler... meh. I would rather we take a risk on an unknown commodity in a second rounder. Wheeler takes up space that could go to guys doing a decent job in that role on the current roster - Kelly, Smith, Winchester, etc.
