#Flames GM Jay Feaster has been given green light to sell, he's fielding offers. Montreal is one team they're talking to a lot.

I'll be impressed if Feaster can pull anything off.

Another Dudley connection there. Feaster may very well have a buyer.

Don't forget Shero in Pitt and Chiarelli in Boston. Ahhhhh! Ahhhhh!

All very BONANZA-ey.

I recommend that any guests reading this sign up immediately to get in on the BONANZA discussion!!!

ahhhh yeeeaahhhhhhh!!!

The reason also may be that scouts are watching this team and thinking the players aren't worth close to the asking price. Would you give up a 1st or top prospect for Phillips if you were a contender? I wouldn't.

Sounds good!

Which of these albatrosses players will teams wants?

1.34 year old Langkow - injury prone and with another year on his deal for 4.5
with a big fat NMC

2.Alex Kotalik - 1 more year @ 3 million and he SUCKS (plus he has a NTC)

3.Ollie Jokinen - 1 more year @ 3 million and he SUCKS (plus he has a NTC)

4.Matt Stajan Facepalm 3 more years @ 3.5 million + NTC

5.Jay Bouwmeester - the failure himself - 3 more years at 6.8 million + NTC

6.Cory Sarich - 1 more year @ 3.6 + NTC

7.Kipper - 3 more years @ 5.8 + NTC - this might be an attractive piece - maybe even for Ottawa

Pretty darn slim pickings. Hagman @ 3 million for another year might get a slight return, Bourque has a NTC and years left, so I doubt it. Iglina is obvious, Regher perhaps.

Firesale my arse though. I'd be surprised if he can move any of those 7 mentioned.

SJ just claimed Kyle Wellwood on waivers from STL. Don't know if he's the solution!

EDIT: Sorry, Hoags broke the story. Anyway, now I wonder if SJ is planning to dump salary somewhere.

Amazing how many former Sens assistant GMs are now bonafida GMs.

Tim Murray, future star GM in the making ? (outside of Ottawa)

I thought they only had 777k in space. I suppose Eager's salary is only about half of the 965K though.
Yeah, it would all be pro-rated... to nearly half. With the addition of Wellwood, they're going to have to send some players down to get under the cap and within roster limits.

Laugh1 Isn't this the second time STL has signed someone, then have them immediately plucked off waivers? Svatos as well by Nashville?

Maybe Heatley wanted a chubby boyfriend after being stuck with skinny ol' Spezza for so long.

Yep, which is why they may actually be interested in Kovalev. THey need some help on Offense, and some people believe Kovalev can help. They at least know trading for him wouldn't result in another team stealing him away at the last minute....

In this case the Hounds (other NHL teams) may be driving the fox (St. Louis) to the Hunter (Ottawa).

I agree, there won't be another signing like that for St.Louis, rather a trade. They'll look to Hagman IMO, but if they're rebuffed, I think they might plunk down a mid round pick for Kovalev.

Okay, let the bonanza begin!

The Flames are rumoured to be close to a deal with the Habs! For whom? No idea. Hagman?

I'd guess Regehr.

That would cost a TON. I seriously doubt it. Start with a 1st rounder and add IMO.

Not sure why Regehr would cost a ton. He's had a forgettable season, and he has lots of term and money left on his contract ($4M cap hit, two more years). I like Regehr a lot, though, and it'd be nice to see him get out of Calgary.

Montreal's tight to the cap, but will have room moving forward, so they could certainly afford to take on Regehr.

That's the thing. You had a good post earlier outlining the guys available on the Flames. They all have virtually no value. If the Flames are truly intent on shaking their team up, you might as well trade a guy like Regehr who has some value to him. Although I'm not sure they'd get what you're asking for.
