Steve Lloyd says Locke is about as fast as Cheechoo.
I haven't seen Locke play so I don't how true that is.
Shouldn't expect much tomorrow I guess.

The future is apparently now for the Ottawa Senators.
At least between the pipes, that is.
Robin Lehner, the organization's only goaltending prospect, has been tabbed to make his first National Hockey League start on Thursday night

Oh man...is that true? You can hide that with skill though - something of which Cheechoo has none.

Worst case is he's on the top line, doe ant produce, then is replaced immediately and never gets a sniff at the top line

Let's ruin our top goalie prospect before his career even starts.
I understand the sentiment, but I'm still not 100% in agreement. I want a goalie that *won't* get down because he loses. I want him to just go out there and battle, and realize that even if not all battles are won you still have to keep battling. I want someone who can drive himself to excel with out needing someone to tell him *why* he needs to get pumped up.
Like SpezD, I think Lehner is strong enough between-the-ears to survive a trial by fire. And if he's not, then I don't think he's the future of this franchise anyway.
Yes, I know I'm going to get an earful from Roche when his self-imposed Lehner-free-exile is over.

Agreed. I'd hope that he'd get a decent chance. A couple of shifts on the top line isn't enough to make an assessment, but CC loves to juggle.

Locke is a perimeter player and he risks getting lost due to his lack of speed and size if not on the best line possible.
There is no half-way with Locke; he either produces or he doesn't. That is what he is paid to do; he is not a role player.

Are talking about Locke or Kovalev........
I know everyone is saying his size and foot speed are an issue, but some people can just plain score. Heatley used to be one of those, Tim Kerr was another, hell Cicarelli was one who was small and he wasn't overly fast. Mind you he played right in front and took a pounding.
Still Montreal only gave him 1 game (5 min of ice time) to prove himself, and the Rangers I believe gave him 3 (again around 5 min of ice time). Hardly a fair shot, considering his lowest point total in the AHL was his rookie year at 49 (??) and since then he has had at least 55 a year.
If you're going to give him a shot, you need to give him a decent amount of minutes playing a role similar to what he does in the AHL...what's the down side...Regin doesn't get 15 min a game?

I just like the way you stick to your guns; doesn't matter that I think you have the wrong ammunition.
You are almost asking for your gun to jam and backfire in your face.
